There used to be a complete log of Glanville's journey in what would end up being his millennia as coach but thanks to the pillaging by the Ottoman Turks in 1453 the earlier chronicles are lost forever. @Akinji07 should have more details, I've said too much already.
I have the chronicles.

Turns out it's a true story.

Georgia Tech Crushes The Sassanid Empire in The Fall of the Byzantine Empire Bowl

In a game that was never really in doubt, Georgia Tech crushed the Sassanid Empire 42-10 in the 1068 "The Fall of the Byzantine Empire Bowl." The Yellow Jackets were led by a dominant performance from their defense, which sacked Sassanid quarterback Khosrow I four times and forced two interceptions.

Jerry Glanville, in his first year as defensive ends and linebacker coach, was clearly pleased with the performance of his unit. "We came forth today and did battle," Glanville said after the game. "We put pressure on the enemy's leader and made great plays when we needed them. It was like Patricius Swillicos was riding a Byzantine cataphract into battle, like Elvis himself!"

On offense, Georgia Tech was led by quarterback Basileios Hamilton, who threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns. Hamilton was also effective on the ground, rushing for 100 yards and a touchdown.

The Yellow Jackets' victory was their second straight bowl win, and it gave them a 10-2 record on the season. Georgia Tech will now look to build on its success in 1069.

The Sassanid Empire, meanwhile, will have to go back to the drawing board. The team finished the season with a 6-6 record, and it will need to make some changes if it wants to be competitive in 1069.

After the game, Glanville was seen riding off on his Byzantine cataphract, a gift from his wife. He was flanked by his two bodyguards, who were both wearing leather jackets and sunglasses. Glanville looked like a Byzantine warrior, and he was clearly enjoying his moment in the sun.

Whomwas the HC back them? And did we beat the barbarians from the East?

Teams don't have much character anymore now that the roster gets turned over every year

Just wanted to complain some more

John M. Heismanus III

The 1068 football game between Georgia Tech and Georgia was a gruesome and bloody battle that would have put even the fiercest warriors of the Byzantine era to shame. The players from both sides charged at each other like raging bulls, their swords clashing in a deafening cacophony, as they fought tooth and nail for every inch of the field. While the valiant and skilled soldiers from Tech fought with honor and chivalry, the barbaric hordes from Georgia resorted to underhanded and brutal tactics, striking low blows and attacking from behind, causing mayhem and chaos on the battlefield. In the end, it was Tech who emerged victorious, their swords held high in triumph as the defeated Georgia soldiers retreated in shame and humiliation.

I don’t know how you make up new recruits with these kinds of numbers. Turning over 2/3 of your team at the end of spring camp makes for a tough fall. I take it he thinks this is a necessary step and isn’t trying to compete in year 1?
