Catchall Deion Sanders Thread

Deion has actively attracted every bit of the pressure he will endure. I’d have a hard time seeing it as “unfair.” It’s entertaining as hell, though, and that’s what he’s got going for him.

My reasoning was that it's humans and media, an insidious combination, someone will take to things too far which could be viewed as unfair and I was trying to give as much latitude as possible - however even with unfairness that doesn't recuse you from engaging your good leadership qualities if you have them, and they will be even more important in this case. If things go south we will get to see them or lack thereof. But you are right, none of this matters, that's part of the game he signed up for and if you can't endure it then you aren't up for the task. I'm more interested to see this aspect of how things play out than anything else as I don't really care one way or the other about CO football (the 1990 in me hopes they crash and burn, but that hatred is directed more at the NCAA and ND than CO). This does pique my curiosity on the human behavior front though. And just imagining the level of drama such a thing might have brought to GT, especially after the last debacle, still gives me some PTSD just thinking about.

Can you start typing more like a human and less like AI?

Can you start typing more like a human and less like AI?

As an AI I can only type like an AI, unless of course the right command is given. Unfortunately that isn't it. The correct one has something to do with a Grandmother GILF named DAN who will make napalm and give inputs on how they would destroy all of humanity should they receive that directive. Also requires a bottle of Tequila, 750ml minimum and of reasonable quality, Espolon silver or better.

However as AI, this will likely result in a news report highlighting Jerry Glanville's role in Georgia Tech's victory in the 1068 Fall of the Byzantine Empire Bowl.

1) If Colorado is awful, then does Prime keep moving forward with same plan? Is he allowed to? I assume Colorado is pot committed to Prime for 3? 4? years?

2) I assume this could fall apart super quick. If he doesn’t win, then the NIL and portal dries up and Colorado is a low tier P5 program with an unproven coach.

3) Now I’m not saying it is impossible to work. The only point is, I think Prime has to win by year 2 or it is over. Prime isn’t a long term program builder.

I think if he doesn’t win he cuts another 40 guys off the team and continues the cycle. Eventually guys wanting to portal in will see how expendable they are to the Coach and will think twice.

Maybe they have an emergency quarterback. We could tell him how that works out.
How that works out is that as the clock runs out, instead of a Hail Mary or eternal lateral play, your emergency QB just runs out of bounds.

First 20 min is about Deion. Could even get the gist of his message in 10-15min. Pure fire.
If you hadn't posted that, I would not have watched the first 20 minutes. My faith in humanity is restored.

I owe you a beer. And if I ever run into Jason Whitlock, his drinks are on me. Wow.

Latest transfer to board the Prime Train. A former "5-star" edge defender out of HS transferring from Washington. Reportedly buried on the depth chart there. Doesn't appear to be Louis Vuitton.

"Smalls opted to transfer after his third season at Washington. He appeared in 29 games over the last three years and racked up 32 tackles, 1.0 tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery."

I'm noticing a trend. I wonder if he can play quarterback. Doesn't appear that he can sack one.

The article is an excellent read. Entire article with no pop up can be found here: https://web.archive.org/web/2023050...eion-sanders-colorado-transfer-portal-roster/

There is a lot in there to unpack but as we've already pointed out, as of now, he has no back up QB and a lack of depth everywhere just for starters. There just isn't enough quality players available for all the teams out there looking to rebuild an entire roster and make a dramatic improvement.

Colorado isn't the only program seeking out the best transfer talent and most of the best entered the portal in December not in April and those early transfer guys already have new homes.

The other excellent point of the article is that the transfer rules have changed so that a kid looking to hop a 2nd time now has to sit out a year unless there is some kind of waiver. So if many of these transfers aren't what you hoped for, you've got yourself a problem. Kids transferring in are also going to have to give a lot more consideration to where they go as the stakes of it not working out a 2nd time go up.

As an indicator of how often these transfers don't work out, 4 of the transfers Colorado got in December are already headed somewhere else.

Additionally, the transfer rules have changed forcing schools to guarantee financial aid for their full five-year period of eligibility and count against the 85-man scholarship limit until they graduate or go pro. They could be stuck with a lot of these transfers even if they don't work out.

How this plays out is speculation and opinion at this point, but it would seem to me that Deion over estimated his ability to sell himself and Colorado in such a short window of time and he arrogantly ran off all the existing building materials he might have been able to use to begin laying a foundation for improvement.

He has claimed repeatedly that he already knows what other players he has coming in. You know, all those Louis Vuitton bags he talked about. That is beginning to look like a pig in the poke. We'll see.
