Catchall Deion Sanders Thread

I wanna start a Deion Dead Pool. I would start another thread but dont want to get banned. So I guess we could do it here. # of days you think Deion will be Colorado HC. Closest whether higher or lower wins. Tie breaker is predict # of victories in his Colorado tenure. His HC start date was 12/3/2022

Can I use a variable?

(Days till his kid leaves) + (1/24)*(0.3)

Cool, if they have a problem with me, they can get behind you in the line to kiss my ass.

Pretty sure that was from a podcast or YouTube channel from right after Sanders took the job. It was linked in another thread - I watched it and it was pretty incendiary. But it's not a shot today - it's at least 6 months old

You’re not really this naive are you? The new found TV viewership for Colorado has nothing to do with being Colorado fans. They are interested in the story / fans of Deion. And once Deion moves on, those “new fans” you‘re talking about, won’t be watching Colorado anymore.

yeah this kind of stuff is just awful. Who would want this kind of attention and publicity? It's way better to lose quietly on a Friday night and have no one watching. That's great for a rebuilding program!

#1 Evidence of the lack of interest by Deion as it related to the GT job was out there. Pick any of the sites (On3, 247, Rivals, etc), XM Radio etc, pay $10 a month and read / listen for yourself. I’ll make it crystal clear for you. Last November on Full Ride Wes Durham was asked about Deion and GT. He flat out said, GT had no interest for all the reasons that have been stated time after time. Including Deion didn’t want to deal with academics.

#2 Money has been an issue for the last 2 coaching searches, that’s no secret. The GTAA is broke. And that was even with CPJ giving GT an out by retIrving. So even if J-Batt was interested in GT, GT didn’t have the $$$ to cover his costs + staff.

#3 GT is and will always remain their own worst enemy. I mean they care about the academic prestige first and foremost. There is nothing wrong with that. But when the NCAA finally is removed and the APR component is no longer in place, the only hurdle that will remain in NIL. Can GT compete with others around them?

It doesn't seem like we disagree. Colorado pulled out all the stops to make it happen and GT didn't. I don't believe that had Tech made the same moves as the buffs that deion would have chosen Denver over Atlanta.

This Coach Prime stuff embodies just about everything that's wrong with college football today, but it also puts a shining light on the reality of what it takes in the current landscape.

However, I was wrong about him setting back our program. GT could really benefit from an overnight PR reboot like all of this has given CU. And based on our 1-2 record so far, I'm not sure we really took a meaningful step forward anyway. Yeah they sneaked past a rival last week, but 3-0 with a road win vs TCU is something.

All that said, and maybe I am wrong about this as well, I just can't imagine that it's as easy to bring 80+ new players into Tech. And because of that, I'm not sure he would have been interested at all in the job. Either way, I was obviously already wrong about him at CU.

CU has something that was necessary to getting Prime that GT would never get: the cooperation of the state legislature and BOR to ok the changes necessary to allow Prime to do what he wants.

Our state legislature would shut down GT athletics if they could.
Politics and sports are inseparable.
Politics, money and power run the world.
You don't have to like it but ignore it at your peril.

Which of these things is not like the other two and why? (This is a complex question so there may be multiple answers)

A. Jackson State University
B. Georgia Institute of Technology
C. University of Colorado

All of the above.

What you still fail to comprehend is Deion had ZERO let me reiterate this again ZERO interest in GT. Why is this not registering with you by now? And fwiw, Boulder is a very nice area to live. Not everyone wants to deal with the giant city traffic mess that is Atlanta, which extends 50+ miles north, south, east or west.

He wanted the Auburn job. Auburn wanted Freeze and got him. And when Norvell didn’t leave FSU (by all accounts FSU wouldn’t have taken that risk hiring Deion after the Taggert debacle) to go back home to ASU, it became apparent there weren’t any options available. So whether Key had been hired by that time or not, Colorado was the only school willing to take a chance.

Well, the BOR says, taking calculus is a requirement at GT, regardless of degree, but CBK says, you don't and he never did. So, maybe there's a way around BOR requirements.
