Catchall FSU Gone/Snubbed/White Knighting Thread

Because they are also shedding teams in the process. There’s about to be a lot of west coast butthurt when schools like Stanford and Cal get left out and end up in the Mountain West.

We need to shed Duke, Wake, BC, Syracuse at minimum.
OK, two more questions:
1. Why the need to "shed teams?" All sports conferences everywhere have good teams, mediocre teams, and poor teams.
2. What happens to a program when it goes through what FSU, Miami, GA Tech, and many others have been through recently?

It’s not about how good or bad a team is. It’s their earning potential.

I still can't believe the SEC carries Vandy like they do.

If there is any truth to this - does not bode well that GT is not one of the eight. But with all the rumors flying - who knows and not sure why the Cards would want to leave the ACC to take a pay cut to go to the BIG 12 (they are not going to the SEC Or BIG

ESPN secretely wants fsu to blow this whole thing up so they can drop the ACC tv contract like a bad habit, just like they did the PAC10 and then focus all their money on the SEC, expanded with fsu, clemson, unc, and maybe vt. High Quality matchups that draw nationwide ratings are what they want.

This and the strategic value of keeping a team out of the other conf. There is at least a case to be made for the SEC to snap up GT just to keep the B1G out of the ATL. I have to think the B1G is drooling at the thought of an outpost in the very center of SEC territory. Can you imagine the B1G championship game at the Benz filled to the rafters with Big Ten fans - that would be a stake right thru the heart of the SEC. If it made sense in 2011, pretty sure it makes even more sense today.

I think it is highly likely that ESPN and FOX had a hand in setting up the PAC 12 for failure. First they give the BIG 12 an open check book (~$ 31 MM to poach other power 5 teams - the only available the PAC). Next the PAC can only get ~ $20-25 MM and they would have to produce the games for Apple. So both networks instead of paying 10 PAC schools $310 MM/year - between the two of them they pay 6 ~ $31 MM - saving = 31 x 4 = $124 MM/year savings between the two and they get the best PAC schools

And the state legislature of Georgia would gleefully let UGAg screw us.

A $400-$500M buyout is really not that much money. Didn’t GT just raise $200+M to build some building. However, if $500M is not that much money, then the $10-$30M per year to stay competitive is certainly not that much money. Just ask donors to pony up. If they really want to join the SEC, then pony up the $500M. If they really just want to stay competitive, then pony up the $30M per year until 2036.

Then the SECheat needs to get busy and kick Vandy, USCe, Mizzou, and Arky out.
You know they'd absolutely do that if they could trade for Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.

If $400-$500M can just had with a snap of the fingers, FSU admins wouldn’t be throwing a hissy fit like this.

If $400-$500M was that easy to get, they wouldn't bitch about the ACC payout, they'd be on par with Alabama and Texas spending wise.
