Chadwell and his spread option

Still believe his system will have us recruiting with our left hand tied behind our back especially at OL & WR. Fun system, but imo, will add restrictions to school that already has hurdles
It's a totally valid argument. I personally don't think that would happen in the same way that it did under CPJ, but I'm not a fortune-teller.

My counter-argument would be that Saban used to run an extremely conservative system as well. Then he saw his offense getting lapped by Auburn and others that had adopted RPO and read-option principles. He took a risky bet in hiring Lane Kiffin to run the offense. Bama looks like a totally different team now than back in 2015 thanks to this change.

I think Chadwell is a brilliant football coach. I just question if our boosters and (half of our) fan base can deal with another option coach.
This may be a stupid thing to say, but I think the aesthetic of the flexbone formation and having a running back under center was most of the fanbase's complaint.

If Chadwell ran things out of a pistol and had a qb that could complete 55% of passes instead of 45% I don't think 75% of fans would even know it was similar to CPJ.

The only time CPJ had anything similar to what Chadwell runs was the "hambone" option when PJ was first starting out.

Chadwell has pretty much always had a 50/50 balance give or take. It's probably more pass happy with McCall, but even then it was still more passing the PJ did by a good margin. I don't recall Chadwell's QBs being as fast or as mobile as what PJ had - which is more like a glorified RB. It won't be mistaken for PJ style offense anymore than GS's version was during the first GT/GS game - just more pass happy.

McCall has completed a very healthy 70% of his passes, just as a point of reference. He's also got 1 more year left...

Would he be a transfer candidate? I assume that would hinge on has he finished his degree and would come her for grad school, right? A transfer in as a senior seems unpossible.

He's a Junio

I would think so. GS QB Shai Werts finished his last year of eligibility at Louisville

Georgia Alumni are searching for our candidates. They are not going to help hire an other option Coach.

Is there any way we can clear up if the search firm is actually involved in the coach search? I think the search firm is just involved in the AD search. The could be retained by the AD for the coach search, but I don't think that is any guarantee.

Also, there is probably a 50-50 chance we end up with a shotgun option offense coming out of this based on the candidates. Its not so much because anyone GAS what offense we run, it is because those offenses are successful and those coaches are available to move up. If you want a successful "conventional" offense you are looking a Deion or promoting an OC, right?

Don’t presume to know what I did or didn’t know in the mid 1980s. I was one of the boots on the ground at the time and I knew more than I will ever post here.

If you think I’m off base about my view of Chadwell then fine. We can debate publicly in the Court of Stingtalk.

But don’t question my right to express an opinion in this forum. I paid my dues to Georgia Tech and I’ll put my resume up against your or anyone else’s anytime.
Just for the record, by “resume” I’m referring to my resume on StinGTalk with respect to predictions. My comment came off pretty harsh but I think its a bit arrogant to post that events will unfold to make my post look stupid. Not sure how anyone would know in advance that my post is stupid. How would anyone know that he’s a home run waiting to

If I’m right and he faceplants then it isn’t me who’s stupid. But I’m not the sort of poster who will dig up the original post 5 years hence to vindicate myself. Its just not that important. At least to me, its not.

But God forbid certain posters pass up a chance to call another poster stupid.

And I’ll bet the ranch that if I turn out to be right, the poster who said I’ll look stupid won’t

Was just told rumor that Chadwell was in Atlanta today. Not sure why given we have no AD
There are a lot of reasons to be in Atlanta.

In case its not common knowledge, some of our big money guys reached out to Sanders a while ago. Presumably to take his temp. Not sure what came of it.

We need good coaching and players who can execute. Get that first and the scheme doesn't need to be anything tricky or "different from the others".

We shouldn't need a gimmicky scheme to make FGs, get punts off in less than 3 seconds, have passes connect with WRs, make open-field tackles, etc.
Take away the "gimmichy" scheme, do you think Chadwell meets the rest of your requirements?

I get that but the info is floating in the sunbelt crew (specifically the Southern and CCU crew who are playing Saturday)

Probably not. His offense is familiar to us so we are intrigued. Do kids who can go to really good programs want to come here?

That is a lot of butthurt over simply disagreeing with your take. Maybe you need professional therapy to deal with it.

Maybe, however we just had a coach who was a 'great" recruiter and he has set the program back with his increase of 4 stars. If we get a guy who can build a program we have a chance. But I think you make a valid point. Do we hire a Program Builder first type coach or Recruiter first type coach.
