Collins is the top Candidate

I am ok with this hire. Just so everyone knows. :drink1:

Are there other things that make people think Collins will be good a recruiting?
I was impressed with the article about CGC at Miss St and how he was thinking outside the box to get recruits attention. He was doing these so-bad-they're-good Miss St cartoons in the handwritten letters. Talked about how recruits open his mail, which they often don't do because the big names get so much attention.

The key take away is that he seems to enjoy recruiting, the thrill of the chase, etc. He thinks about it inventively and understands he's dealing with kids. It was a puff piece, to be sure, but it was encouraging, especially since so many around here think recruiting is the problem.

That is a good article. Thanks for the link. Key takeaways: Innovation & Recruiting. Slightly more concerning... wish I knew why there's been a drop off from Rhule to Collins in Temple's results.
Because their star QB and Running back graduated. Thats why

So what offense does he bring? Do we re-hire CPJ as offensive coordinator?

Who are the leading non-CPJ-tree offensive minds out there and interested in moving into an OC spot? We've only been talking HC but especially if its CGC (a former DC) the OC is gonna be super-important.

They fared pretty disastrously OOC, but did go 7-1 in the AAC with that only loss being 52-40 to UCF. Their lone win outside the AAC was a 35-14 win vs. Maryland FWIW, and they finished 8-2 after a QB change.

It looks like (just from judging stat sheets) they went back and forth between a couple different QBs last year. They got beat pretty soundly against the ranked teams they played, but the losses to unranked teams were close. It was also his first year as a head coach, so maybe it took him a little time to adjust to the new role.

Team scoring defense got a lot worse. Rhule last two seasons 18th and 11th. Collins, 58th and 47th.

Auburn fans have PTSD from the greatest coach of the past 40 years taking up residence in the archrival and steamrolling the world. They are not good judges of Gus, IMHO.
I don’t need auburn fans to tell me Gus runs an offense very similar to PJ’s, except Gus isn’t as good as PJ and looks like an idiot when they score and even a bigger idiot when they lose

He's also the last coach to beat Nick Saban.

This is what concerns me as well.
