Seems like ND fans are pumped about this: http://www.irishenvy.com/forums/notre-dame-athletics/74232-notre-dame-acc-partial-member.html
I have a bigger suspiscion that the talks are going the other direction, in order to get NBC Sports an eclusive college sports conference.
Because there is only one non-football sport that counts, and the ACC didn't need to dilute itself further in that. If this is a basketball move, then that makes it even worse, since it entrenches the TRM's point of view of the conference even further. Why are you discounting the impact they will make in non-football sports?

If ND is stuck with the 50mil buyout no matter what, then it's not too terrible a move I suppose, because it means they'll never be able to compete for a conference championship unless they go full member and compete for ourse. It paints them into a corner.
If they're not subject to the buyout, then it's just flat stupidity all around.

I would love having an entire channel and network dedicated to our conference alone, and guaranteed having at least 2 games on National Broadcasts every Saturday, during football season, and then having an ACC game of the week in non-football sports as well. That would be sweet!Either way the money and exposure are increased for the ACC.
+1, just spoke to a coworker who is a ND grad and avid fan and he said NBC is really pushing their sports network that has nothing on it. They have a whole channel that can be dedicated to ACC sports, kind of like CBS gets the best SEC games while ESPN gets the leftovers.
Also why not UCONN at #16? They have no baggage, and are a cupcake football team to balance schedules out, and would make basketball ridiculous (mens and womens.) Ped State is a black hole for $$ over the next 4 years

UConn is much better than FSU and ranks close to UMD, Pitt, and Syracuse. Unfortunately this ranking ties them with UGA: http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandr.../rankings/national-universities/spp+50/page+2I wouldn't mind a big deal with NBC, but our ESPN deal doesn't expire until 2021. As far as I know, there is no early out clause on it. We can renegotiate due to membership changes, but we're locked to ESPN until the deal is over.
UConn sucks at football and academics. No thanks.
The first questions that come to my mind are:
- Who gets the five games in the ACC and how are they decided each year
- How do the Irish play into the ACC bowl contracts, especially the Orange

The thread where The Jacket follows through on his bet to drink SEBs piss has been moved to the dungeon.

I think it is a good move...no doubt...just wish it didnt look like the ACC was bowing down to the almighty Notre Dame....
