CPJ Radio Show

Exactly. It was a 3 and out. After which we promptly fumbled the ball back to them on the first play.

Clearly on the defense.

So you're saying our quarterback is öööö and lost us the game.

I don't see where I said that.

Well somebody lost the ööööööö game but apparently we can't call anybody out for it. Which is why I don't get this:

What position does he play?

How many tackles did our DL have? How about Gotsis?

You guys are ridiculous sometimes. Everything was fine until Gotsis went out. That changed everything and I called it last week when the depth chart came out. We have zero depth at DT. ZERO.

If you're losing three weeks in a row, you stop making excuses and ask the head coach why he can't fix this öööö. Unless you're saying we should just expect to be bad, close the book on the season and wait till next year. When he'll have the excuse of losing a öööö ton on defense. If ifs and buts were candy we'd be running willy wonka's chocolate factory up in here.

Pablo Escobar keeps staring into my soul.

Being a Georgia Tech fan is SOOOO tiresome. Whining and bitching, bitching and whining. Over analyzing again and again and again. All of it coming from people who don't know if a football is blown up or stuffed.

Coach Johnson has a track record, and it's a öööö good one. He can only call the plays that will work if executed. he can't go out and execute them. He didn't forget how to coach in the off-season, no more than you guys forgot how to masturbate while watching Bill Nye or seeing a picture of Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

Most accurate post I have ever read on stingtalk

I don't have to ask the coach these questions. It is very obvious. We lost a dominant OLman for which we have no replacement. We lost vast amounts of experience at AB and WR that we have not been able to replace, predominantly from a blocking standpoint. That has been admitted to by CPJ. And we have no DL depth to the point where we are playing a 235 lb LB at DT.

Again, anyone who thinks this is a simple fix that can be made during the season is showing that they pretty much know nothing about team sports.

CPJ and staff have made changes from week to week. The offense was operating better this week. But missed blocks by the ABs were still there. And the DL situation clearly won't be solved this year.

We have SOME DT depth, just not enough to handle 2 injuries and game-long suspension against one of the better offenses in the conference.

So you think 235-lb Tyler Marcordes is a viable option at DT? He is apparently our #4 at DT.

You know how I know you're OK with mediocrity? Because you line up excuses for the head coach every time the team isn't performing. All these situations with not having depth in DL, not having experienced skill position players are the fault of the coach who's in charge of recruiting. The OL may have lost Shaq but the rest of them are seniors for öööös sake. If you can't block as a senior I'm not gonna blame you, I'm gonna blame the guy who's supposed to have been teaching you. And you being mad at people for criticizing CPJ in his 8th year for potentially being on his way to losing the bowl streak is just plain stupid. I'm not saying fire him but he needs to address what needs to be done and how long it will take. People who spend money to support this team and scream their lungs out at every home game have a right to ask these questions.

Why after 8 years has the coach not been able to install a system in which the oline is not dependent on a single point of failure? How many combined starts are we running out there every week on the oline? It's a lot. We replaced one guy. Why did that make the others all of a sudden start sucking?

Why has the oline coaching been so consistently terrible? Johnson has shown no hesitation to run off defensive coaches who weren't pulling their weight. And yet we've had the same oline coach for 8 years who can't get a veteran group of players plus a 4star recruit with 2 years in the program to perform worth a öööö in his 8th year?

Why when we seemingly have 11000 RBs on the roster, is it so hard to find 2 that can block worth a öööö? We really have to resort to playing walkons?

Why do we have so little DL depth?

And don't give me the "oh but it's so hard to recruit to Tech" BS. We just lost to ööööing Duke.

Oh. But it's ok. Johnson told us before the season "you guys have announced us national champs, but you should see them practice". You think my boss will buy it if I tell him I'm going to suck at my job before I suck at it? Hey! At least I told him.

I'm not mad at anyone. And don't confuse my ability to see things are they with being accepting of mediocrity.

And it is funny that you say you spend money to support the team. How much money have you given to the GTAA this year?

Did you reply before reading his post?

Nope. I responded directly to it.

I think the OL is doing a decent job. We just don't have that guy that could pancake guys like Shaq could. We do not have someone that can run a pull block like he could.

Why when we seemingly have 11000 RBs on the roster, is it so hard to find 2 that can block worth a öööö? We really have to resort to playing walkons?

Clearly they can block, we have all seen it. They just aren't doing it consistently enough. Lands-Davis as plain as day from Upper West was pulling up off blocks just as the play was developing behind him. Who knows why he does that?

Why do we have so little DL depth?

This has been my biggest question for the past few weeks now. I don't recall us going into the season with only 3 guys on the depth chart for 2 DT positions. Who was on there previously that is no longer there?

So far I am only hearing all of the great reasons why CPJ is a good play caller and none of the reasons why he is a good head coach.

Year 8. Year 3 with a steady defensive coordinator. We have serious personnel issues - we are undersized and undermanned on defense in pretty much all positions. On the defensive line we are undersized by a solid 40lbs in each position. We have an offensive line that is full on seniors with over 100 combined starts and they play like freshmen. We are losing in the trenches year after year on both sides of the ball. We have a running head coach who has managed get one person he has recruited or got to transfer to get drafted (Anthony Allen in the 7th round)

We also have a coaching issue as well. We have a coach that can't put away games. Either through inspiration, play calling, coaching, or what, we don't maintain leads. That has been consistent for 8 years. Some of those games we get lucky and pull out a win, some of them we get embarrassed.

Now you can say, "Paul Johnson gave us 10 wins twice and that is awesome," and you'd be right. But there are other coaches that run option teams today that could give us the same thing. Look at the other schools out there and their recruiting rankings and how they win. We are not alone in over performing by advantage of the option. Don't try and tell me we can't land one without them jumping to another, more prestigious program. That only tells me you don't view us as a prestigious program.

Mike Bellotti brought consistency to Oregon, and every once in awhile he popped up with a 10 win-season. But mostly what he did was make Oregon a legitimate football program. That set up for a hire in Chip Kelly. Chip took average and consistent to great. Paul Johnson is our Mike Bellotti.

This is really not much different than most other teams. If the wrong guy misses a block, you're screwed no matter what offense you run.

CMS was firmly on the hot seat until last year, in which his OL was easily top 5 in the country in terms of performance. Do you think we should have fired him after last season?

Why when we seemingly have 11000 RBs on the roster, is it so hard to find 2 that can block worth a öööö? We really have to resort to playing walkons?

Lost RB's
Andrews
Leggett
Weimerskirch
Cottrell
Benson
Searcy
Snoddy
Marshall

Maybe that's why? You guys bitched when we took Clinton Lynch a couple years ago... imagine where we'd be without him. Austin ööööing McClellan would be starting right now, beside our other walkon who is marginally better.

Why do we have so little DL depth?

Bad recruiting, compounded by losing guys like Commissiong, Akins, Kitchens, etc. Ultimately falls on the coaching staff and needs to be fixed or our D will never get better.

And don't give me the "oh but it's so hard to recruit to Tech" BS. We just lost to ööööing Duke.

It's not going to be a great season, and if every year was like this, we'd be right to complain. It's fine to question specifics, but to suggest firing a coach who wins 11 games every 5 years, while making a bowl every single year, winning 3 COY awards and 3 division titles is just laughable. Don't accept mediocrity? Then firing CPJ is the worst thing you could do, because we're more likely to become 1980 GT than 1990 GT with a new coach. Most likely we'd end up back in sub-Gailey mediocrity, only without Calvin Johnson.

I think the OL is doing a decent job.

Fixed. Unless some dude from Russell is about to shower us with hundreds of millions of dollars, our situation is not comparable with Oregon's. That COMPLETELY changed the face of their recruiting.
