Temple was booted out of the Big East for not trying in football.

After the ACC took all the football schools in the Big East, they were further humiliated by inviting Temple back.

Back when the Big East was a thing, Temple was expelled:

This is also looking back though rather than forward. 10 years ago, USC, UCLA, Oregon and UW all playing in the Big 10 would have been so absurd it would have been laughed off. Looking forward, as the B1G and SEC continue to expand and consolidate, it wouldn't surprise me if "underperforming" football schools were expelled to make way for bigger names and/or so as not to dilute the product each conference is looking to create.

As much as I hate them....UNC is a top national brand. Just look at apparel sales as ranked by the CLC (Collegiate Licensing Corporation)
Florida State and UNC are both top 10 brands when it comes to sales which reflects their national brand.
