Because Missouri's athletic revenue, before the new SEC contract, was $145 million. NC State's revenue, which is not going to have the benefit of a fat new contract, is $102 million.

Good analysis of which ACC teams have the best potential to be targets for SEC and Big10. Very positive for GT. Long video but if you watch the
last 7 or 8 minutes you will get the key take aways.

Thanks for sharing. I agreed with most except Virginia Tech being above us in the historical listing. Their history is lots of lower level wins, one coach, and zero championships.
 
Do we know what the P2 conferences are considering when inviting programs to join?

Seems like SEC is focusing on quality programs, geography, and historic rivalries. Texas and A&M are rivals. OU and Texas are rivals. They're both strong programs in the south, so the additions make sense.

Clemson, FSU, GT, and Miami seem like the natural next four. You have the rivalries of Clem-USC, FSU-UF, GT-UGA, Miami-FSU. They're all in the southeast. GT isn't necessarily as strong as the others in football, but the history can't be denied.

You forgot to add the criteria of "chapped posteriors." Massive butthurt is the main thing standing between Tech and the SEC.

I feel like the GT-SEC spat could actually just add to the mystique of inviting us back. Any feeling of butthurt are likely gone b/c it was way back in 1964, right? Anyone making these decisions was probably not even born or over the age of 10 back then.

Or is there a more recent event that I'm not aware of?

We’ve gone to Miss and Miss St in recent years. That was us bending the knee to these really old guys in Mississippi that pull all the strings.

The butthurt has been shown as alive and well on the few times I've seen links to SEC message boards here related to Tech.

Maybe the actual decision makers will see it your way. I'd love to see it, personally.
 
Josh Pate commented he expects FSU to announce their departure from the ACC this year, likely before the season starts. He also said they won't be leaving alone, and that the only real mystery for those connected is whether they go to Fox or ESPN.

I'm not sure how much history plays into the great reshuffling. Recent history, sure, but what you did in the 1920s-1970s, not so much. It's all about brand, and brand does not always equal reality.
