Forbes has an agenda?

"The two members of the disintegrating Pac-12 need 12 of the 15 members of the ACC to support their move. Four schools stood opposed when the issue was discussed Wednesday night, sources say: Florida State, Clemson, North Carolina and North Carolina State. Lacking the requisite numbers, sources say it is unlikely that the potential expansion of the league will be put to a formal vote.

Sources described ACC members Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech and Louisville as among the most vocal in advocating for the Cardinal and Golden Bears to join the league. ACC commissioner Jim Phillips has been leading the discussion, presenting financial and scheduling scenarios to the league members."

I'm glad Tech was on the same side as Notre Dame, Stanford and California. I still think Tech should do everything it can to develop the closest possible relationship with Notre Dame. I sort of think we should disband the ACC and start a conference of truly excellent academic schools that also have major athletic programs. It could include Tech, ND, Duke, Stanford, Cal, Vanderbilt, Miami, Pitt, Wake and/or others I haven't thought of. That may not appeal to many people, but it would be a lot more like what I always thought college sports was supposed to be. I think a few people have a desire to get back to that.

Sounds like it's dead. FSU and Clemson will do nothing to bolster the ACC and I doubt you can flip one of the NC schools. I figure they will stick together. (Both hoping for an SEC invite, perhaps?).

No scholarships allowed. Students must be from the student body. We’ll call it the Wisteria League.

Adding Cal and Stanford ONLY does nothing for the ACC overall. I’m not sure why those 2 schools would really want to join the ACC without 2 other geographical schools joining as well. Without a pod this was setup for failure from the start.

They want to join because their other option is the Mountain West and a huge reduction in revenue/no longer being a Power 5 (or Power 4, at this point) school. The benefits to the ACC are probably marginal

If true, then Cabrera and Batt are as clueless as I feared. GT is doomed.

Or they know we do not have a landing spot, at this point. In which case, anything that might prop up the ACC a few years would be the move.
But Stanford and Cal don’t do that, according to reports - they only add enough so that the current contract doesn’t go down, and covers increase travel expenses.

You’re definitely right that it won’t appeal to many people. That sounds awful and unwatchable.

You want Tech to be more reliant on Notre Dame??????

I think it’s more about what you fear: developing a relationship and team entity with ND. ND can help us get into the Big Ten which is the best landing spot for us. I’m surprised UNC sides with the SEC wannabes but the battle lines are clear now.

UVA, Pitt, VPI, ND and us work out a deal to BIG Ten. Others work out a deal to SEC. Maybe swap Louisville for VPI if we want

Should add it also helps ingratiate us to the CA schools as well. We are willing to help them out in a tight spot. They may be willing to help us leverage making the Big Ten a big national conference with 4 6-team pods.

I think booting Rutgers is the key for the B1G to make its next move. If there are rumblings about that look forthe end of the ACC.

There aren't any schools available that will increase revenue for the ACC. Adding Stanford and Cal would basically be a buffer against possible defections. Either way, the alternative is doing nothing. It's clear who thinks they have a landing spot and who doesn't if the ACC were to collapse.

And for my next trick, I will invade Poland.

The B1G isn’t booting Rutgers. Ever. Period.
