Expansion

Check the stock price and 5 year high and high this year. Financials will be well reflected there.
Um, Disney is still plenty profitable, right? Five billion in free cash flow, strong brand name, huge catalog of proven winning digital assets that thrive across generations is hardly "broke".

Look I can go both ways on Cal and Stanford. But what I hate (other than running out of beer) is FSU running it damn month and running down the conference. I would love for the ACC commissioner to call a meeting Monday morning and say The ACC understands and we will not have equal revenue so starting this year we will take 10 million dollars from FSU that will be divided with the other teams. Now let vote..

5 year hi 200, hi this year 121, close today at 89.
Something is dragging it down. Since hitting near the 200, Disney stock has been on a downhill run.

You do know there is a difference between losing money and not making as much of a profit as you had hoped? You posts appear you don’t. Read the financials and don’t post stupid öööö from people with agendas
Their not even breaking even on these films.

They have DEBT. They used to pay a dividend. They are supposedly looking to shed core assets, and that's possibly to make them more attractive as a take over target.

Adding Cal and Stanford ONLY does nothing for the ACC overall. I’m not sure why those 2 schools would really want to join the ACC without 2 other geographical schools joining as well. Without a pod this was setup for failure from the start.

I think adding schools thousands of miles away is really dumb unless it significantly increases money for the conference. I'd rather take Tulane and WVU or any other decent regional opponent, and Tulane being an option is only due to their recent success. Maybe take SMU along with those two if they are willing to forgo payouts for several years.

I really hate Notre Dame gets any say at all, unless they fully join, öööö them and FSU.

The B1G isn’t booting Rutgers. Ever. Period.
If ND says we’ll join but only if Rutgers gets the boot…they may be OK with it.

Cable is dying and the Big Ten just signed major media deals with Network television. They are quickly becoming the premier college football conference for cord cutters. Many ACC fans would buy subscriptions tomorrow if their teams joined the conference. Rutgers has no football fans and cable TV markets are a thing of the past. Rutgers served they purpose at the time. Period.

Adding Notre Dame, Stanford, and California would've been a great move for GT and the ACC. The more regional options suck and do not have the prestige of many ACC universities.

What if:

F$U is running their mouth in an attempt to prod / push ESPN into upping the ante/$$ paid to the ACC in order to prevent defections to the NBC/CBS/Fox controlled B1G conference? The threat is: "ESPN, pay us more or we 6 teams are bolting to the B1G and you've lost ACC Network in-state revenues and ratings in the following States:
- Florida (if they take FSU and Miami)
- Georgia
- SC
- VA (VPI and UVA)

Adding Notre Dame as a conference member for football is a non-starter. They aren't joining as long as they have their own TV deal and path to the CFP. Adding west coast teams adds a tad bit of cachet but there's a reason the B1G didn't add them - Cal and Stanford are just not real good football programs. Which gets me to the ACC as it stands today. I agree that the regional programs left over don't make a lot of sense. They just don't add much value, if any, and they hurt the league's brand. All the worthy ones have been poached already.

However, the league does need a new TV contract, but that's where the league itself comes into play. The ACC just hasn't played good football for a long time now. On top of that, and no doubt a contributor, is the coaches they have hired over the last 10 years. The league once boasted Bobby Bowden, Frank Beamer, Paul Johnson, Butch Davis, Dabo Swinney, Jim Grobe, and David Cutcliffe... all very good to great coaches. Since then, it's been a walk through some very dark woods for a lot of teams and some marginal, at best, football. What will help the ACC more than anything is to value football as much as basketball, hire some good coaches, and get back to winning football.

I really truly hope that both UNC and UVA get their fondest wishes and get accepted into the SEC someday, and then proceed to get crushed for eternity in the new redneck fb Hell that they so willingly jumped into.

Sometimes you make a bad move which Disney did building (Star Wars Hotel Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser )

It failed bad $5000 for two nights didn't cut it.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser will close its doors forever on September 1. The Resort had only been in operation for barely a year and a half. The closing of this expensive Resort will reportedly cost Disney nearly half a billion dollars, according to the earnings call that took place yesterday between The Walt Disney Company and its shareholders.

The ACC just hasn't played good football for a long time now.

The ACC has won 3 of the last 10 National Championships, had a team in the BCS playoffs almost every year, 2 teams when ND and Clemson were in.

I really like this articles conclusions on how teams may rue the day they leave their existing conferences. Becoming just an also ran, travel, loss of rivalries are a real issue. Nebraska and Texas A&M

I also think the continued attack on the ACC TV contract is a bit unwarranted. Should there be as big of a gap between ACC money and BiGI/SEC money? No but there should be some. Bigger schools and bigger fan bases. But with all that said, the BIG12 contract is not better than the ACC contract. THe ACC arguably has the 3rd best conference TV contract which is probably where it should be.

I really would like to see us add the 3 teams. The ACC does not need to be the SEC. They need to be as good as the BIG12 and the 3rd best conference if possible. Adding the 3 schools would give the conference more stability and guard against stupid defections. I'm not sure the defections will ever happen, but we need some protection to the conference if they do. Hopefully NC State and North Carolina will see the light. I think they are voting together.

If anyone with FSU. Clemson. or UNC could read they may need to read this and see how things can go. The other problem we (ACC) have sat on our butts while other conferences did something,

I getting tired of all the FSU fan whining like this is the 1990's and they are the top of the football world. They managed to get Winston out of jail and eligible long enough to win a championship. That is their only success, as of late.

As for UNC, they have never accomplished a damn thing in CFB and certainly won't by changing to the Big10 or SEC. NC State is a ööööing joke. Clemson has been more like NC State than they would care to admit to. They can than Trevor Lawrence for elevating them to the level they have been, but they will fall soon enough back to reality.

The best move would be to stick together. Convince ND to join. Take Stanford and Cal.

After that, aggressively pursue a better contract. Become a ööööing shark, for damn once. If we can get ND and a better contract, pursue Penn State. Go after USC and UCLA. I'm not sure the Big10 even has a GOR or exit fee. The SEC doesn't. I know it is a long shot, but be aggressive.

The more I think about this, the more I think Congress will step in and regulate. Congress already regulates some college football (for example preventing the NFL from playing in Saturdays) and there’s discussion over NIL.

There’s enough teams with enough fans who will get hosed in this deal that some politicians will look to step in as “saviors of the game.”

Im thinking 4 regional leagues of 2 divisions each that all share TV money equally. Playoff is the 4 league champions. NIL is shared evenly across all players. Scholarship limits set to 80: 40 restricted to in-state, 20 restricted to in region, 20 unrestricted.

I'm glad Tech was on the same side as Notre Dame, Stanford and California. I still think Tech should do everything it can to develop the closest possible relationship with Notre Dame. I sort of think we should disband the ACC and start a conference of truly excellent academic schools that also have major athletic programs. It could include Tech, ND, Duke, Stanford, Cal, Vanderbilt, Miami, Pitt, Wake and/or others I haven't thought of. That may not appeal to many people, but it would be a lot more like what I always thought college sports was supposed to be. I think a few people have a desire to get back to that.
It would be better to cut our testicles off and join the Ivy League. Seriously, you guys are a bunch of cucks.
