Expansion

This makes much more sense for what is left of the PAC.

FWIW, this isn't far off of my suggestion for the ACC to look at rising regional programs for expansion. The immediate financial benefit would likely be small. Losing FSU & Clemson might not be preventable. But the longer term impact could save the conference.

So who are the rising regional programs? USF?, UAB?, Tulane?, Appalachian State?, East Carolina? Memphis? Who do you see as possible additions?

You can add the following options as well (if we’re talking geographically):

Coastal Carolina
Liberty
Louisiana
Western Kentucky
Troy

Problem is the ACC missed the boat on going out and landing UCF, Cincy and taking WVU from the B12. When Texas and OU bolted to the SEC, that was the ACC’s chance to expand strengthening the league. At this point, I can’t see any of those 3 leaving the B12 for the ACC. Poor leadership from Swafford to Phillips has the ACC in the current state it’s in.

It is almost ööööing football season and you ööööing nerds are arguing a ööööing stock price for a company that will still be a profitable, viable company long after both you ööööing nerds are taking dirt naps.

No, no, no, no, and no.

What in the hell is wrong with you?

This coming from the guy who claims Clemson is close to NCSU’s level? Way to avoid a rebuttal on how completely wrong you are.

ACC expansion options are limited due to poor management by Swafford & Phillips.

Closer than us being in a league with ööööing Liberty

Surprised you didn’t throw Georgia State or Kennesaw in there. öööö.

Way to move the goalposts…..

Just admit your post was full of ish about the Clemson / NCSU comparison and just move on.

There is no comparison between Clemson who has no less than 10 wins in a season since 2011 with 6 CFP appearances, 3 CFP NC appearances with 2 NC’s and NCSU with ZERO 10 win seasons during that same period of time.

Fact is, NCSU has ONE 10+ win season in their ENTIRE HISTORY in 2002 when they went 11-3.

I would first find out if there is any interest from current Big 12 members Central Florida, West Virginia and Cincinnati. These programs are solid, provide traditional regional rivalries for current ACC members, have high levels of fan support, and provide good TV markets., especially Cincinnati and UCF. I think these programs could be very interested in being in the ACC even without FSU and Clemson. Regionality matters and they could very well take the opportunity if given.

Tulane is rising, has excellent academics, Top 50 national university by US News & World Report, and has New Orleans TV market and regional interest. They have a $2 Billion endowment. Road trips to New Orleans would be fun. The football team finished 12-2 ranked #16 in the country last year. The program is on the rise and is definitely worth considering for future expansion. Excellent opportunity for regional competition and developing rivalries. I think Louisiana is as far west as the ACC should go.

Navy Tradition rich football, national audience, service academy with top notch academics, Regional competition and rivalries.

Temple. Top 50 public school ranking. Philadelphia metro TV market. The program is down for some of the same reasons Georgia Tech has been down. We share some history. Temple has the potential to be a very successful program. Excellent regional competition and rivalries.

There are others. I don't have the time to do exhaustive analysis of them all but to be sure there are options that are regional and will add to the appeal and ultimately income of the conference in time.

I think you completely missed the point. The ACC had a chance to secure themselves long term by adding a combination of 2-4 of UCF, Cincy, WVU and 1 other program when Texas and OU bolted to the SEC leaving the B12 vulnerable. While Yormark went to work securing the B12’s future through expansion, Phillips did nothing by leaning on the GOR.

Now the ACC is left potentially adding 2-4 programs from the AAC, CUSA and Sunbelt.

And STILL has an overall losing record to us. Clemson is nothing special.

Good God, is this what we should expect from our fans? Pathetic ööööing loser.

And poor conference performance. It’s like NATO where everyone was happy to join then refused to put in their dues (including Tech).

But the response isn’t adding directional Kentucky programs. It’s playing defense to hold Clemson and FSU, pressuring the current programs to invest to improve the conference, then jumping on the next big opportunity.

And STILL has an overall losing record to us. Clemson is nothing special.
Continuing to move the goalposts. You can’t stay on point…..You’re very sore about Clemson’s success since Dabo took over. Lol

What are you talking about? Clemson carries the ACC banner. The past 8 years it has been Clemson and the 13 dwarves. NC State is just there to carry UNC's jock strap which is the most overrated team in the conference during the years that the U is actually back.

The ACC has been down the road several times with the illusion that adding small, private schools in so called “major TV markets” will bring viewers and dollars.
It didn’t move the needle then, and it won’t now.
The ACC has no realistic path to fix what keeps it from competing with the SEC and BIGX. The most sensible path is communicate the school’s interest of really trying to compete at a high level, and if the ACC is coming apart, don’t be a company player at all costs, but align with the programs that have similar interests.
