Fire Ricky BUMfeild

perhaps the hokies didn't know which special teams to prepare for?
CBK's post game comments were unusual...
.
On the status of special teams/cornerbacks coach Ricky Brumfield...
"Yeah, he didn't make the trip and that's all that's all the information I have."
On if Brumfield is still on the staff...
"Like I said, he didn't make the trip and that's all the information I have."
Very odd. Does Key mean that’s all the information he has to share with the media? Or really that’s all the information he has, as in it’s a situation over his head in the hands of JBatt or Cabrera?

I feel like part of this has to do with punts not having a ton of hang time (leading to situations of out kicking the coverage), but one thing that struck me when I was watching the VPI game: It seems when an opposing team’s punt returner can juke the first tackler or two, they end up with a bunch of room to run. Contrast that to when our punt returner makes the first guys miss, they’re quickly tackled by a second wave of defenders. Again, not sure how much of that is the punt itself versus lane discipline, but just something I was noticing.
I think it's mainly a hang time issue. We covered punts pretty well given the lack of hang time. I think they had one pretty good return but that's bound to happen given the lack of hang time and numerous punts in Saturday.

Yeah, if the hang time issue can’t be corrected, we need to have the ball land out of bounds.

Why exactly is he even playing? Poor hands, can't kick at a D1 level. öööö, maybe CBK needs to give his old teammate Dan Dyke a call so he's reminded you can get top-end net punting from a walk-on AE major. Open up tryouts already before one guys costs us a bowl.

I'm taking Key at his word. A coach suspension without telling the HC why is highly irregular.
I doubt this is GTAA or GT admin..maybe ACC or NCAA action is more likely..
(since the hokies just dismissed their best basketball player due to a gambling scandal at some prior school...i'll speculate)
maybe there's some legal or criminal issue from a prior employer that is being investigated.
that at least would explain the awkward silence.
waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I guess the brumfield thing is still a secret.
something will leak eventually.
.
For the season, Georgia Tech ranks 121st in kickoff return defense, 1st in blocked kicks, 106th in blocked kicks allowed, 71st in kickoff returns, 107th in net punting, 98th in punt return defense, and 81st in punt returns. Georgia Tech kicker Aidan Birr ranks 106th in field goal percentage.

Wait…wait. Is this bad?

Horrendous special teams performance then the next week he's gone for supposed non-football related reasons. Curious timing.

The team found out that he was a mole working undercover for one of our rivals to try to make special teams play bad on purpose.
