There are two reasons, first downs and touchdowns. Sims will only take a hit for the later. The first reason wouldn’t matter so much if we were cranking out first downs, but we aren’t. Even NFL qbs will take the hit to keep the chains moving.

Kid is playing in his 4th year and that game was the 3rd he'd played in where his team won. Collins was a 3 win wonder, this kid's a 1 win wonder. Think about that fun fact for a minute.

We need to keep him off the field. Chance of us winning another game he plays in is about zero.

Dismiss him from the team and revoke his scholarship. It's sickening that we pay for someone like this to attend college.

Gibson probably became too OK with losing after playing for Akron and playing for Collins. Akron is a perennial loser and Collins was into giving encouragement and love to the team when it lost rather than being a hardass. Despite our recent history, the expectation here is to win, and we're never OK with losing. Hopefully it's a learning moment and Gibson will fight until the bitter end next time.
