Gibson: “it is why it is”

Meanwhile, Swann’s stat line after 5 games (4 ranked opponents, 3 of them Top 10) for Vandy as a true frosh.

60.9%, 191 pypg, 8 TDs, 0 picks.
QBR 72.5 (37th in the country)

Wonder if we could have used that last night.

I have no words.

His post game interview made it sound like Gibson viewed this game as his opportunity to just get his feet wet. Sounded like he never believed we could win. Just amazing stuff all around.

So I guess Gibson is our QB moving forward according to Key's comments, whether anyone likes it or not...

"Yeah. I told the team in there... we will be in the weight room tomorrow and back on Sunday practicing and with Zach being the quarterback, we have to go back to the drawing board and find what gives him the best chance to run the offense and give us a chance to win. That's something that's... it is not about me being confident, that is only a small part of that. The rest of the team has to be confident. That is the name of the game. The name of the game is everyone on the field and collectively in all three phases having confidence in each other and that is what has to take place. It is those guys that have to have confidence, they have to have confidence that the product that is out on the field and the players that are out on the field doing that, that they are in the best position to go out and have success for everyone else on the team and that is defense, that is special teams, that is everyone else that is playing in the game, that is who has to have confidence. Now, it is up to us as coaches to build that confidence Monday through Friday to build that confidence to go and play on Saturday."
Another three win season it is.

That’s crazy that someone would verbalize and admit to giving up when the game was theoretically still on the line. He will never live that down during his playing career.
His playing career is moot. Kid's working on a TECH degree and will land in the business world somewhere with the same story. It was what it was.

Honestly, I feel bad for the kid. He clearly wasn’t prepared for game action and that’s on the coaches - not him. Now that one play will haunt him for the rest of his life.
Yeah, until he gets married and has 4 or 5 kids.

Collinesque. 'Culture' over winning.

When he gets his Tech degree, would you want somebody working for you who is just willing to give up on an endeavor. If he is willing to give up when he is on TV in front of family and friends what kind of work is he going to do when he is not being constantly watched.

This.
This is an example of a QB who puts his team on his shoulders and plays through injuries knowing he is the leader of his team.

That guy's a Warrior. Enormus difference there.

Need to cleanse the program of this kind of loser mentality.

Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to is.
We don't bench loafers. Why would we bench losers?

I just realized I got Zach Pyron and Zach Gibson confused this whole time

I disagree. He's 24 years old. This isn't JR HS 'ball -he's been playing for at least a decade. He's the backup QB behind a guy who gets hurt and leaves the games almost weekly.

How TF are you not prepared, as the #1 backup QB? Some of this is on him. Stuff like not spiking the ball with 0:08 left, throwing across-the-middle passes at 0:16, running OB to ensure a loss...that's on him too.

This isn't the first game for anyone on the team. As adults, they need to take some responsibility for preparation too.
Other than the few overtime snaps, when has Sims come out of the game this year?
