Gibson: “it is why it is”

That running out of bounds BS needs to be cleansed from the program. You don’t run out of ööööing bounds on the last play of the game when you are down by 20. Just chuck the ball at a receiver. Give them a chance.

But this was a one score game! ööööing A, you could have won the ööööing game. That quote is insane for a D1 player. Seriously, I wouldn’t let him step on the practice field this week. If you’re in the game, you play to win. Take the week off and decide if you are a football player. The guy is a gifted athlete if he has made it this far. Go down swinging.

I like to think I'm pretty forgiving of student athletes in general. But if anything is unforgivable it's this. I know I'm echoing a lot of you guys here, but just wanted to be counted. I crave affirmation. I ööööed your mom.

The stupidity of the plays preceding it and most of all the "just take the loss" attitude. What. The. Actual. öööö. Toxic mentality. Need that gone from the program. Anything of the sort. It reeks of GeeOff Dogcollins. Expecting, and being ok with, losses. If that means this QB is gone from the program I can't say, but dayum I would certainly think long and hard about letting him ever see the field again.

The last play is less concerning if it was just Gibson making a mistake. Instead, he selfishly decided that the team should just "take the loss". That is why he should never see the field again for GT.
I have to agree

Except with Ball ran out of bounds on 4th down against UGA

Actually, he didn’t. He threw the ball away on 4th down. Not to excuse the grave error, but the down marker on the field had a 3 on it. And his coaches were telling him to.

Wish that more of the team had half of Reggie’s drive to compete. Wasn’t perfect by any stretch, but the young man left it all out on the field.

I try to never "call out" individual players unless actions REALLY call for it and certainly do not BOO them at games (unless they REALLY act out on a play)--BUT--ZG's "action" and excuse are not palatable. W have a HUGE problem at QB. That being said, I have never understood all the Reggie Ball LOVE on here. I "get" that he was a "baller". Played hard. Beat Auburn TWICE when they were ranked (i was at both games).--BUT--I was also at Ahole in 06 when he "flopped"(I remember leaving the cesspool with the gaggers chanting REGGIE_REGGIE)-never beat Ugag--and also at the Wake championship game where he could NOT hit the barn broadside. Mind you all this was with the greatest receiver we have ever had. CJ's career stats would have been REALLY mind-blowing if Ball had been a better passer while he was here. I respect all the good he did but certainly remember all the bad.

Reggie Ball would be an order of magnitude upgrade to any QB we've had over the past 4 seasons. It's a lot easier to remember the good when we've had it unimaginably bad for a while now.

Yep. They're not comparable. I remember I was mortified when Reggie threw the ball out of bounds on 4th down. I felt like my heart literally stopped for a few seconds. I seethed about it for a long time, and in some ways will never quite be over it. But last night was on a different level. It's one thing to get confused about the down in the heat of battle, and quite another to willingly give up the game. Heck even if he had lowered his shoulder and turned upfield last night, there would still have been the chance he could have scored. An extremely minuscule chance, but still a chance, slim though it would have been.

I first assumed that he must have thought we still had a couple of seconds on the clock. But after hearing his statement, it sounds like he was just ready to call it a night. Comparing this to Reggie's 4th down, the difference for me personally is that I just don't care much anymore. My passion for GT football has greatly eroded in the past 4 years, and I suspect I'm not alone. This time I just shook my head and walked away.

Say what you will about Reggie, but he would have found a way to beat that Virginia team last night.

That’s the unforgivable part. He could have just chucked the ball and had it picked, batted down, whatever and no big deal.

Given how bad both teams looked last night and the penalties, there’s a chance you get a pass interference or something to get another shot.

I’ve never heard of a competitor “just taking the loss.” Key needs to eradicate that from the program immediately.

Of the 16 games he played in over 3 years at Akorn they won 2. We brought him here to win?

Yes. I misspoke. Threw the ball out of bounds.
