Haynes King starter?

How the hell was Sims anything like Ball?
I thought comparing him to Taylor Bennett would have been harsh.

Here's Reggie in 49 games:
662 comp, 1363 att, 48.6%, 8128 yds, 57 TD, 55 INT

Here's Jeff in 25 games:
364 comp, 633 att, 57.5%, 4463 yds, 30 TD, 23 INT

Reggie took 90-95% of the snaps, Jeff took about 60%.

I think Reggie would have ran through a brick wall for the team. Sims, not so sure.

That's why I said ....except tough and couldn't win. The stats would have suffered if he wasn't hurt and couldn't play in damn near every hard game. You couldn't hardly drag Reggie off the field with a tow truck.

It's possible that Sims was coddled too much by the previous coaching staff. He was led to believe that he was anointed to do whatever he wanted, without consequences. Maybe at Nebraska he'll step up with more maturity and discipline. Then again, he might just have the same character flaw wherever he goes.

I hope this doesn’t sound too pessimistic, but I think whatever character flaws we have in our early 20’s we end of having for the rest of our lives. We mature and hide them and control them better, but I believe they are still there.

Sims was only 20 years old last season. I think it is extremely pessimistic to think we cannot improve our character once we turn 20.

I suppose I can only speak for myself, but I definitely believe I am a different person than I was as a 20 year old junior in college. Like fundamentally different, not just being able to hide who I am better.

You maybe right. I know a person’s personality will change, but a character flaw I’m not so sure about. I guess it varies from person to person.

We might just have different definitions of "character". I think a better way to phrase it may be that at 20 we have many innate tendencies that will be with us for the rest of our lives. However, as we grow and (hopefully) mature we can learn to control and mitigate those tendencies.

To me, that is an example of improving your character. Being able to understand your own flaws and accounting for them so you can be person you want to be is a sign of high character -- one that it's never too late to develop. And I think a good mentor (or coach) can absolutely help with that.

Between injuries and the portal, you need as many good QBs as you can get.

Last year proved just that. We used every one of them. 4 to be exact. When they play 150% you can expect some injuries in some form or fashion along the way. Especially on the run side of the RPO plays.

Huh? He was terrible at RPOs. We kept forcing it on him and he was fumbling the ball or throwing tipped balls that got picked.
We averaged about 13% RPO plays in our 2000ish snaps from 2020-2022. He took about 1300 of those snaps, so he ran about 170 RPO plays in 3 years. Honestly, I have no idea if his percentage of fumbles or bad passes were higher on RPO plays than all the others. I didn't keep any detailed records but if you retained breakdowns and I'd love it if you'd share it with us. I started watching game tape and calculating the RPOs because so many people were yapping about us running so many RPOs. I attend a lot of games in person & myself/son would be swearing afterwards we didn't see more than a dozen in any game. We in fact rarely ran RPO plays. In my opinion, we'd have been way more successful had we done that. We just didn't.

Or making downright awful reads. Kid was absolutely stacked with talent though in a roster that didn’t have much of it. IIWII

No question the kid has talent, but unfortunately it is the coach killer type. Hopefully his stars align at Nebraska.

He does not have the talent to be a successful college QB BECAUSE HE CAN NOT CONSISTENTLY THROW ACCURATE PASSES. The rest of it is just a bunch of happy horse öööö. I don't give one flying öööö how strong his arm is or how fast he can run the 40. Whatever physical talents he has are NOT well matched to being a good college football QB, where the objective is to deliver the football to your receivers in stride so they can rack up YAC. Period.

Not only that but he also never stopped making awful decisions about where to throw the fb
