Haynes King starting vs Louisville

Actually KQ hinted it might be King last Sunday because he is a guy Weinke and Faulkner had recruited at their previous jobs and is a guy that specifically went after for GT, knowing what they had in Pyron.

Spring was a long time ago.

Has to be a close contest, but he has the overall game experience. Whoever on here said he was the starter, you called it.

That said, I'd be more comfortable with Puron coming in at backup than I have been with a backup coming in in years.
It was me

But is Pyron above the line still?

:crapstorm:
Well, I think this is clearly a point that Key is different. Collins would have held to ATL and not named a starter. I expect it makes a different in practice reps and contribute to all kinds of GT issues the last 4 seasons.

I forgot King is a lefty. Gonna be weird seeing play action to that side of the field. Maybe having a lefty at QB puts greater stress on the secondary?

Either way.. SEASON IS ALMOST UPON US BABY

Pretty sure he's right-handed.

As long as the decision is based off performance or some other metric defined by what the player puts on the field, I’m fine with it. If it was based on recruiting promises, I’m not.
How are you gonna know whether you’re fine with it or not? I trust Brent Key to make the right call but we’ll judge him based on the product on the field, mainly wins and losses. Not some arbitrary metric about how he made the qb decision.

When was the last time we had a melanin-challenged QB starting week 1? Just curious haha

he's not left handed

King was the top dual threat QB in the nation while being recruited out of high school. It’s a gamble because he’s always been the best guy at practice but underwhelmed on Saturdays. I think it’s mostly psychological. We’re gonna see if the QB whisperer can work his magic and unleash King’s potential. Because if Faulkner can pull that off we’re looking at a Heisman contender. And worst case scenario we also have a guy who’s already won the fanbase with his toughness and work ethic. I think you need a guy like King to pull you ahead in the first half and Pyron to sustain the lead with longer uninterrupted drives in the second half. We’re likely to see both on Sep 1st.

Based on the announcement, sounds like they're pretty set on the starting QB and will switch in more of a train-wreck situation, not on a whim.

Unless the right-handed thing has been a ruse. Inconceivable!

The guy put up numbers against Bama…

They had that game in the bag and blew it though.
