Helmet Front Wording Update: “ATL” to “Tech”

Pay. Clemson did quite well with an organized IPTAY (I pay $10 a year) years ago. Quit complaining and organize people willing to put up some cash. This, outside of the GTAA. Otherwise, accept consistent mediocrity, at best. If not, we should invest in and become a basketball school, which could meet expectations.

That's your opinion. Just understand this is the point of departure between you and many others.

The data from the previous x-number of years is not on your side. Going back to Heisman, when GT began playing serious football in 1903, GA Tech has had exactly 3 head coaches who posted losing records: Bill Curry (1980-1986), Bill Lewis (1992-94), and Geof Collins (2019-22). Even Bud Carson, as poor a HC as he was, won as many as he lost.

What those three point to were the challenges that have arisen for college football in the last 40 years, and so there were certainly some improvements that needed to be made. I would consider the ATL/404 a needed improvement, not a rebranding. There was, and is, no need to "rebrand" GA Tech football. Gailey, as it turned out, was recruiting at a pretty high level for a pro-style offense at the end of his term. With consistent improvements, GA Tech football would have been just fine. Rad decided to go a bit of a radical direction with CPJ and it worked well overall with no rebranding. All of Collins' bluster and hype was just that, bluster and hype.

How is “changing something” an opinion? It either happened or it didn’t

Chan realized it late, with a huge assist from Choice, that he has embrace & become one with .
That’s how you have an OutKast on your sidelines & MTV filming your games. Was one of the first to hire a recruiting coordinator and killed it metro Atlanta & GA selling “playing under the lights in Midtown Atlanta with your fellow Georgians”

Also, it was never a rebrand. It was elevating a brand that became an outsider in its on city. Ask any letterman from the past 10yrs what the experience was being on team in the compared to those 15-20yrs ago. The responses will be night & day

Try reading what I'm saying and we can continue the conversation.

No need. You believe the status quo is fine and GT can just go hum their way back to its winning ways in todays era of CFB
Swing and a miss. You really ought to read the posts you reply to. But since you're not, I'm done with you.

He went 44-32, with no ACC titles, 0-6 against the dwags (!!!), and his best bowl win was on a blue field. So please - stop sucking his D like his were the glory days.

I understand having not gone there Tech traditions are a foreign concept to you.
Been a Tech fan my entire life. The snooty "you didn't go to Tech" is one of the traditions we have that have made UGAg have 95% of the sidewalk fans choose them. I'm glad I didn't attend GT. Older grads have the reputations for being pricks.

öööö you. Older grads? I'm younger than you and you can suck my dick you ageist ass.

That "snooty" attitude is certainly a turn off as a side walk fan. I think not winning against UGAg and on a more consistent basis in general is more to blame than the attitude of alums though.

And that is pretty much Tech tradition. We look at CPJ as some sort of miracle coach because he squeaked past the gaggers a few times

Well, yes, the three wins over U[sic]GA but also the conference title, the Orange Bowl win, the top 10 finish, and the four wins over top 10 teams.

I'm not sure most people would call him a miracle coach, but it's pretty easy to see why a lot of fans look back fondly on that era compared to the previous one with 0 wins over U[sic]GA, 0 conference titles, 0 top ten finishes, and one win over a top 10 team.

Gailey was close to being remembered similarly but could never quite get over the hump in his six seasons, whether it was against U[sic]GA or on a rainy day in Jacksonville.

You can’t understate the excitement that CPJ brought to the Flats in his first couple of years. After years of an offense that wasn’t very dynamic, we rewrote the offensive record books for explosive, long plays. We also broke several losing streaks (losing to the Dwags, losing in Charlottesville) and had some good revenge games. We played hard and physical on offense and often made defenses look foolish. We learned what a deathmarch looked like.

It’s too bad that we couldn’t maintain the tough defense we had under Gailey, or keep the level of talent as high as those first couple of years, but the magic and excitement of those first couple of years plus 2014 will always be what I remember about the CPJ era.

That plus the Miracle on Techwood. We sucked that season but it's hard to top ending FSU's national championship hopes at night on homecoming, with the win coming on the final play of the game in such a crazy fashion. That's quintessential college football and something I'll never forget.

Squeaked? In 2008, we were down 28-12 in Athens. The mutts were 30 min away from tying Dodd's 8-game win streak against the dwags. We came back and won and you call that squeaking by? Dayum.

Also more teachers coming out of u[sic]ga mean any kids that aren't fans of either team are auto-converted during their school years. At my high school people would wear dwag hoodies and never watch a game.

This is great point

Guys in the pol threads are talking about the wrong grooming. Grooming kids to be Dawgs is heavy in both of my girls classroom.
