Jeff Sims

He looked good to me, and I'm an asshole naysayer who has maintained for a decade we couldn't get a player like him.

That said, Bilbo looked good too, and similar, and did similar things, such as firing bullets, completing nice passes, scrambling well, and throwing the ball to the other team.

So I'm cautiously optimistic. I'll definitely watch the next game, that's for sure.
Most importantly: will he progress? That’s the key that has been missing from several QB’s at GT.

First most being will to win?
Poise and recognition.

You can have all the "will to win" you want but if you don't understand defenses and don't put the ball where it needs to go, that will does no one any good.

Part of my fear is I look back on true freshman starts across GT history, and probably the best of all time was Reggie Ball vs Auburn. And we all know how that turned out.

Cautiously optimistic.

He definitely looked good. Outside of the INTs, definitely passed every eye test I can think of.

Yeah I suppose you could roll both qualities into an overall “competitor” mindset. A true warrior prepares 100%. Fights to win and doesn’t lose composure in the face of adversity.

Per ESPN, the most important QB characteristic is hair

Wut?

Bilbo had a cannon but couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.

Yeah that was favorite of the night. Great anticipation.
In his postgame interview, Sims said the first read was Brown on the seam. He got flushed with the pass rush and just as he was about to take off he saw Ezzard break off his route and uncorked it.

@BainbridgeJacket , there’s your answer. I couldn’t find your post when you brought it up. Sounded like it was definitely a hook or route Ezzard was supposed to sit on but he and Sims played a bit of a scramble drill.

Beautiful football.

Don't care about the numbers. I am not a boxscore scout. Manuel was never accurate and was in a system that masked it. It was plain as day when he flopped as a pro.
People were moaning about Sims' HS completion percentage. Watching his HS film and all-star game last year, I drew the conclusion that it was timing, not accuracy, that was his weakness. Yesterday verified that for me. He also had a long throwing motion that seems to have been corrected some. His release, particularly on screens, seemed fairly quick and accurate.
