Jeff Sims

Unrelated to his comments EJ Manuel actually isn’t a terrible comparison to Sims.
I would go with a lankier Tyrod Taylor, but he could definitely cap out as a Lamar Jackson if he works on his speed or Rodgers if we works on his playmaking

Per ESPN, the most important QB characteristic is hair

What about that double chin.... Just sayin....

Part of my fear is I look back on true freshman starts across GT history, and probably the best of all time was Reggie Ball vs Auburn. And we all know how that turned out.

Cautiously optimistic.

He definitely looked good. Outside of the INTs, definitely passed every eye test I can think of.
Reggie’s first start was BYU and it was a loss.

That was my initial thought as well, so I looked up the stats from that game. Turns out Reggie was 9/21 for 149 yds. Sims was 23/34 for 277 yds. That’s not much of a comparison at all. Sims competed 68% of his passes against a very good defense despite making a few pretty rough freshman mistakes. Just for further comparison, in Deshaun Watson’s first game as a freshman against FSU, he went 19/28 (68%) for 266 yds and lost.

I was right there with you in terms of being a naysayer, and I’m definitely still cautious with my optimism, but DAMN Jeff Sims looked pretty incredible for a true freshman.

I’ve skimmed a lot of opposing team boards the last 24 hours as a lot of ACC/SEC fans were following the game. The main themes I consistently saw were:

1) lol @ fsu
2) Collins will have Tech contending for the Coastal soon
3) Sims looks like a real player

Shout out to our RBs who I thought really picked up the blitzes and blocked well, giving Sims the extra bit of time he needed. That's been a missing piece- great coaching by TC and executing by the players.
They did pick up the blitzes like champs

The dude looked like he had been there a thousand times. Everytime i saw his eyes they never looked fearful. It was like Nesbitt but with an arm and 6'3'.

This is a figurative and literal huge freshman.

Jeff Simms is bringing the juice. We should all be excited.

Very true, but Watson played a muchhhh different caliber FSU team than Sims. Still all aboard the Sims train though.

So apparently Jeff Sims is going to be a lankier Tyrod Taylor, a bigger Lamar Jackson, a more accurate Nesbitt, EJ Manuel, and Joe Hamilton, after one game.

Can he just be Jeff Sims? I'd like him better that way. Any comparison to Lamar and Nesbitt right now(especially after one game) is ludicrous.
Anyway, so excited for what we've got for the next 3+ years. He's a special player with so much potential.
