Justin Thomas commits to GT

Here is what Tom Lemming had to say about Justin...
"Tom Lemming: Along with Ron Darby he ranks as one of the two fastest players in the country. A QB in high school, he reminds me of Pat White, a great ballhandler with decent arm strength but who shows incredible running skills. In the right program, he could be a difference maker at QB if not put at WR or CB, and watch him run.
He ran a laser time of 4.3 in the 40 and on film proves to be one of the more explosive ball players in the state. A Pat White type of QB, he's a decent passer and a great runner."

He said ball handler

If each person adds a Vad Lee thread then we will accomplish two things:

1. The whole front page will be filled with Vad Lee (We still love you too Justin)

2. Beestorm will not ban us all. We will ---- up his system.

Let's see...Vad Lee = 3 star, Justin Thomas = 4 star. That means, at the very least, we can expect 33% more Justin Thomas threads than Vad Lee threads once he's on campus.

Vad had a 4th star before he committed, didn't he?

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Hence why we got a QB with the last name Thomas.

Vad is probably reading this and shaking in his boots.

To anyone who questions the star ratings of the Alabama recruits, here is the record from Nick Sabans tenure:

2007: #NR, 7-6
2008: #6, 12-2, SEC West Champ, BCS bowl
2009: #1, 14-0, MNC
2010: #10, 10-3
2011: #2, 11-1, playing in the BCS championship

Do you think he could achieve anywhere near that success with GT's players? Hell no! It required multiple 1st team All Americans and first round picks.

2008: 4 All Americans, 1 2011 1st round picks
2009: 7 All Americans, 2 2011 1st round picks
2010: 1 All American, 4 2011 1st round picks
2011: 7 All Americans, Projected 4 2012 1st round picks

Seriously doubt it.

Vad has a big jump on this kid developmentally in the offense. Unlike all our other QBs Vad was not on Scout team in his RS year and took a lot of snaps in the offense. After spring practice Vad will be even further along.

Almost certainly PJ redshirts Thomas. Thomas has to learn the offense and to take snaps under center, giving Vad more time.

All this said, PJ has in the past put developing QBs at A back when they are too good to not be playing somewhere. All depends on Thomas and how fast he learned.

Note that Thomas was a standout AAU hoops player and also played baseball on a very high level. He is the kind of guy who can do a lot of things, play a lot of positions, and be good at all of them.

Great pick up!

Any insight on how this affects the recruitment of the aTm commitment, Darion Monroe? He is listed as a 4-star DB, but I seem to recall reading an article that he was considering a flip to GT to play QB.

Do we have a chance to get both?
