KING OUT? - Nah King is back baby.

Most likely scenario:

KING comes out for coin toss as captain -- dressed in street clothes. Win the toss, defer.
As our D starts the game forcing a 3-and-out, KING has stealthily donned the pads.
First play, KING keeps from the mesh, gashes the thunderstorms for 76yd TD.

Would be Nesbitt-worthy badassery

We’ll be 7-4 after NcSt

King clearly can’t push the ball downfield. I’m obviously happy that we won the game, but our 2 QB approach somewhat telegraphs run vs pass.

Is there any chance he’s back to normal this season? Do we roll with just Philo against NCST to give King more time prior to UGA? It’s a risk, but I legit think we can beat NCST with Philo.

If King has a torn rotator cuff the question is whether he should go ahead and have surgery to have a chance at being back for Spring practice. If he waits until after a bowl game then making Fall practice comes into question.

AC Joint Sprain

Expect we see the same King/Philo combo for the rest of the year.

Per Kris Budden on SiriusXM College Sports Sunday this morning when asked by Luginbill “With a healthy Haynes King, this team could be sitting here 8-2. So I ask, can Haynes King get healthy enough to be a factor in the passing game so they don’t get too predictable in the final 2 games?” Response by Budden “I don’t know. From what I have been told of the injury, it only gets better with rest. It does not require surgery. He went 2 weeks without throwing the football, and he can’t re-injure it by running the ball or taking hits. So they are just letting him loose. From what I’ve been told the injury is getting better, but I don’t think he’ll be able to make the throws Philo did for the rest of the year. So that’s what will be interesting down the stretch. Now that teams know GT’s game plan with 2 QB’s, will they become too predictable? We’ll just have to wait and see. But give the true freshman a helluva lot of credit. He made some big time plays and throws in the 2nd half.”

His arm basically has 3 weeks to rest before it matters. We good.

The real problem we have with Philo is that our run scheme seems totally ineffective without a running threat from the QB position. King made something out of nothing on several occasions yesterday with this awkward goofy wiggles he has that make him such a slippery bastard.
Going to need to incorporate both QB’s on the field at the same time in Athens. I think the game plan yesterday against Miami will work just fine against NCSU.

Philo is just a hair late and behind on some of his throws. I'm hoping he can quickly ramp up the learning curve to adjust this. It's unfortunate he doesn't have much in the way of running ability.

We are running two different offenses with this dynamic duo.

There are advantages. It presents an absolute headache for DC's. They have to prepare their defense for both and have the defense keep it straight in their head making adjustments on the fly. Difficult for young college football players to do.

King can still pass. Just not deep. I loved it when we had both QB's in for a play. That's another wrinkle that can create confusion for the defense and possibly open up a big play.

I didn't think swapping in both QB's would work and it might be less effective going forward but CBF did an excellent job of disguising things so maybe he can continue mixing it up as needed.

I feel much better about the dynamic duo solution than playing just Philo on his own.

Now that we've made a bowl, I imagine we'll be holding back most new schemes or plays for U[sic]GA. I'd expect quite a few wrinkles against them.
