Miami Depth Chart...Sims QB1

The people trying to avoid the ATL whenever they can are rarely Georgia Tech fans and even more rarely ever actually attend a game.

Most of our fans who attend games (or used to) live outside the City of Atlanta on purpose; hence all the parking on game day.

Sidewalk fans don't actually come right off the sidewalk. It isn't like the guys at the soup kitchen on Pine Street are going to decide to attend the game this weekend.

But you guys go ahead and sport your ATL & 404 garb, I like being able to see who the dimwit Collins fans are from a distance.

Well you said it yourself. Everyone outside the city seems for the most part loyal to the team in Athens. Then what's wrong with claiming the city itself? Atlanta is roughly half the states population anyhow. If Atlanta is the capital of College football why wouldn't we want our name affiliated with it? And calling anyone a fan with a certain type of garb a Collin's fan is a bit much. It turned out Collins was a fraud when it came to being a ACC caliber coach but there were some things I think he got right. Actually being proud that the Institute is in Atlanta is one of them.

Atlanta is also part of the state, why not market to the entire state. We are not Atlanta Tech or 404 Tech.

Of course you think Collins got some things right, you are a Collins fan. Georgia Tech fans have plenty of logos to choose from: GT, Buzz, the T, the Tower, Adidas, etc.. Collins fans have two distinct logos: ATL & 404. The results of Collins marketing speaks for itself; but you guys can keep championing it forever if you like.

If Deion comes here and people want to wear "Prime Time" garb that's understandable; but after Deion leaves the "Prime Time" garb should go with him. Same with Collins and the ATL & 404 gear.

I'm not sure if you consider yourself a smart guy but there are some painfully obvious points that you are really out of touch with. And you mention that at one point I supported Collins. I was in the camp of giving him a chance before passing judgment. By early in year three I knew he wasn't going to cut it so I wanted him out after that. No I was not in the camp of hating his guts just because I didn't like "ATL", "404", and "Waffle House" like lame fans like you.

Tech fans for years have been saying we need to market Tech as Atlanta’s college. We finally make that push and we’ve got fans crying that it’s stupid? That’s the Tech way I guess.

Riiiight, everybody who doesn't want to be in city traffic and congestion is a racist.

I don't think that everyone who doesn't want to be in city traffic or congestion is racist. Certainly not, as someone who lives in an even bigger city I understand there are immense downsides to city living and it's not for everyone.

But I do question why someone who lives in or around the metro area of a city says they feel alienated or deliberately excluded when a sports team in the city markets themselves as being part of that city. That makes no sense to me and feels like just looking for a reason to be offended.

No one is saying to throw out Buzz, the Wreck, or any of Tech's traditions. But it would be foolish not to also go after the Atlanta market as we try to build back up our fanbase.

The Braves should change their name to the Southeast except Florida Braves. So we don’t alienate all those Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, etc. Braves fans.

Collins was absolutely right to market us as Atlanta’s team. He was unfortunately absolutely wrong when it came to coaching Xs and Os.

Embracing Atlanta does not mean you long for the days of 3 win seasons.

You can go after the Atlanta market without replacing the GT logo with ATL or 404; that is the point I don't think you get. And yes, in many instances they replaced the traditional GT logos with ATL & 404. It wasn't as much the marketing as it was going overboard with it.

I agree Collins went overboard and it turned out poorly, like most of the things he did. There is room for marketing ourselves as Atlanta's team while still primarily relying on Tech tradition, which is the approach I hope we take going forward.

You know the Braves branded themselves as "America's Team" right? Ted did the exact opposite of what you are saying GT should do. Terrible example for you to bring up.

The Atlanta Braves are known as America’s Team, but why? | Midlands Business Leaders

It was Turner who bestowed the Braves with the name America’s Team.

But it’s not Americas team. We can actually be Atlanta’s team. This is important in the age of NIL. I think businesses in Atlanta are more likely to pay NIL to Tech players than some onion farm in Vidalia.

That would be the best outcome, especially if Sims balls out the rest of the season, we hold Pyron out of Miami, and then let him have practice duty in the second half while we are curb stomping UNC and UGAg.
I like the smut of your boob.

Aeromech has gone full retard. Guess what? Lots of the state doesn’t want to travel to Atlanta, if ugag was in Atlanta they would travel to Atlanta anyway. Ugag markets themselves with Atlanta.
Just compete and win. The fans are waiting.

The ATL and 404 stuff has nothing to do with people not coming to games. The ATL Braves seem to do pretty well, and they don’t even play in the ATL.

It is sad that I prefer Pyron to Sims today. But, I see three scenarios that could unfold. In one Sims plays and plays well, no holding back. We win convincingly. In a second Pyron plays and we end up with a close game, and I think we win. In the third Sims plays, but is reluctant to run. He plays to not get hurt.Ball security and decision making suffer. He may leave the game hurt or not, but we lose in that scenario. The problem is that we have seen this play out a few times in the past. Sims playing all out is better than Pyron at this point. But, Pyron is better than Sims playing with reluctance and limitation.

This post is full retard. UGA has not replaced their logos with ATL or 404, and you don't see UGA fans wearing ATL/404 gear around. You don't Georgia players wearing ATL/404 on their uniforms. UGA markets Atlanta as well as Macon, Columbus, Savannah, and the rest of the state.
