If we are going to keep the 3O, then sure. Although there are other criteria that I would hope would be factored in WAY ahead of scheme.

I get the mindset, but after 11 years with the triple option, how else do you explain bad defenses every single year? Did every single coordinator suck at their job, or did the offense one way or another sap the defense of its potential? I've really enjoyed Paul and his offense and I'm not at all opposed to coming back to it in the future, but until the day comes that one of his proteges is every bit the coach PJ was in his prime, there's no incentive to go that way. We need the best overall coach we can get, not settle and hope an offensive scheme can keep us relevant. That's just my 2 cents though. To me Monken is the clear choice. The offense is not our problem and Monken would bring more drive to the HC spot. He still has things to prove and willing to go through the grind to do it. I think moving away from the offense is a mistake.
Monken coached at Tech and knows the environment, plus he was a HC at GA Southern which is a plus in recruiting ties and connections.
Ken N doesn't have any ties to the state.

Not really. Monken has probably already reached his ceiling at Army by beating Navy two years in a row(going on three), winning the Commander in Chief's trophy twice and winning a bowl game. There's not much more you can do at West Point other than that. If you want to compete for conference championships, major bowl games, and possibly more, Monken will make the same decision that CPJ made.
Who is this mystery man you speak of?Maybe you're right. But why bother raising 125 million in 3 years if we're not willing to invest in someone that has atleast some credentials to ride in on.
Kansas was interested.Definitely 'going on three'. Army should smoke Navy this year.
But if GT doesn't call on Monken, I wonder if anyone else will?
GO ARMY. BEAT NAVY.
I'm guessing you think Tony Elliot has these credentials??? Vs someone who has actually coached teams to victory in multiple environments that are relatable to GT for different reasons???Maybe you're right. But why bother raising 125 million in 3 years if we're not willing to invest in someone that has atleast some credentials to ride in on.
I do know this, though, anybody who wants more passing would be sorely disappointed with Monken. It feels like there is nobody in CFB passing less than Army right now, by miles.
I'm all ears. Who is "big"?This is our chance to go BIG - our primary competition for a coach right now is Louisville for crying out loud. Don't settle on the safe hire with Monken. Go big!
How old is Monken? CPJ is 61 and about worn out. I want not only a smart, intelligent and wise new head coach, but one that is younger with a lot of energy and drive, not one ready to retire soon. I like what Monken has done at Army, and that was no accident.

I personally want to stick with a similar scheme, but I'm not convinced that if adaption is needed that Monken will do it. Maybe I'm projecting CPJ onto him (as I know monken has done some odd formations at Army), but Bohannon seemed like he was the guy trying out more wrinkles. (iirc, he was the reason we ran some pistol in 12)
