New ACC scheduling model

I thought that was true from a "big game" perspective. But, if our three permanent opponents were Clemson, FSU and Miami, I would be complaining that we had a built-in disadvantage in terms of our won-loss record. The sad truth is that the 14 team ACC is not a very attractive conference to me, regardless of how the schedule is designed. But, considering how we've been lately, we're lucky to be in any Power Five conference. If we get good enough to beat Clemson and Georgia, all our games ought to be enjoyable to me.
Yes, the perfect conference configuration was the 9 team ACC, with a full round robin in football and basketball. That's why Ratface and UNCheats opposed the expansion at all. but money grubbing and here we are. The ACC was basically diluted by merging with programs from the lower Big Least and was diminished. Other conferences cherry-picked the better programs from former conferences and were elevated.

So one of the reasons I was told we turned down an invite to the B1G was that we wanted the regional games of the ACC and we get stuck with WF and Louisville? Another great decision by our so called smart leadership. We can now worry about irrelevancy while being poor too. I don’t know about y’all but I think I’d prefer the financial stability and deal with the crappy match ups in the B1G!

Would have loved to keep playing Duke annually instead of Wake. But, I don’t mind Louisville. Somebody had to play them, and a fall trip through Tennessee into bluegrass country makes for a nice road trip. Need to get a date when there is racing at Churchill Downs or at Keeneland. I also like playing every team twice every four years.

Wake Forest is definitely a regional game, one of the closest ACC schools to us. Only a five hour drive. And of course we also have Clemson, which is only a couple hours from us.

Strictly from a "regional games" perspective, this pod is pretty good for us.

So, ND is now a non-conference game for everyone?

Did I miss something?

Agreed, but Wake is an up and comer as compared to Duke. Who knows, maybe we'll be the lower of the 3 unless something drastic happens. They're moving up and we aren't. Louisville is probably doing something "illegal" or really close, Hell at this point I wish we would

Wake is no damn up and comer. Y’all say anything on this platform

I’m just glad we have something different to argue about that has nothing to do with CPJ or CGC (don’t do it, just, don’t)

I must admit that I wondered the same thing. When Tech is up and beats the SEC, the ACC is up. Having a strong Tech program really improves the conference’s reputation.
But I don’t see us being taken care of. I would much prefer the southern pod of Tech, FSU and Clemson and Duke or Wake. Tobacco Road got their pod for the most part. The northern schools got their pod. Tech got squat, maybe the ACC knows we are leaving later. Without regional rivalries we might as well take the money and play Indiana instead of UL.

Yes, apparently you missed everything.

ND has always been a non-conference game for ACC members in football. They're still an independent in football, with a contractual requirement to play 5 ACC teams on a rotating basis each year. They're a full ACC member in all sports other than football.

They played "in-conference" for 2020 only cause of COVID shenanigans, might be that's throwing people off.

True. Good point. But that was an exception to the contract for sure.

I believe the ACC threw away a once in a lifetime opportunity to leverage them into full membership in football. The ACC basically saved their skin and tossed them a lifeline in 2020 when they faced the potential of having zero opponents to play.

It looks like they picked one permanent rival for each team and then drew names out of a hat for the other two. I don’t know what öööö y’all are smoking calling this öööö traditional and regional.

Hey Dumbass....they won 11 games last year and 45 over the last 6 seasons. What would you call it? The only losing season they've had since 16 was during covid and went 4-5. This is why people like you shouldn't be allowed to talk about anything but F'ing Fortnite. They would steam roll any team Collins could put out. Do us all a favor, pull Collins' junk out of your mouth, and bang your head into a wall. I'm not sure if that's you on your photo (I'm assuming so) but just in case it is, Shave you look like Weeman auditioning for spot in Deliverance. I bet you're a bag of hell in Tecmo Bowl

TIL Wylie doesn't know who he is talking to LOL.

I think we had to stick with Clemson. However; Wake and Louisville. makes no sense, to me. You would think they would of tried to keep the schools closest together, to play each other.
I agree we weren't going to drop the Clemson rivalry and that will likely hurt us but I'm ok with the other two. We are 2-0 against UL and 23-8 against Wake. Those two games should be easily winnable more often than not. I also think they made us and Louisville permanent because we are the closest school to UL in the ACC. This will give them an easy travel game every other year. Wake though still confused there. I would have rather seen FSU but historically Wake should be an easier game for us to have on schedule every year.

Also, I don't mind it as much because now the way the rotation works, we will basically get a home/away game with all the rest of the acc teams every other year. There won't be any long periods of not playing somebody, and we'll have a home game with every ACC team within 4 years. Hell we've only played Wake once in the last 12 years.
