Next head coach

Maybe we should prioritize picking a coach & scheme with a proven track record (Option or not) instead of dismissing things that work due to prejudice. Listening to the fans with what you described as "sense" is what got us here.
I have zero interest in going 3-O again. It's a program killer. You trade some wins in the here and now for losing long-term... as in you kill energy & outside perspective around your program, kill recruiting, kill any shot you have at attracting new/young fans who want to see something more exciting than 3 yds and a cloud of dust. I get that all this losing over the past 3 seasons AIN'T IT either... but there's some middle ground somewhere where we can win games and compete with the bigger programs without going straight 3-O.

I personally am pulling for Collins to have success this year. I know that ship has already sailed for many... If he doesn't then we need to pull the plug and find someone better suited to complete our transition away from 3-O football.

You don't need 7 years to transition away from the 3-0. THAT is laughable. I would believe that most ADs can look at his 15-10 record at Temple and make a better determination of whether or not he's good enough to take the reigns of a P5 of our caliber than we did.

Garrett Riley. Go young. Go with name recognition, albeit due to kinship to Lincoln. Go with someone with a fun offense that should be good for recruiting. He did a good job at SMU. Should do well at TCU.

I know we traditionally don’t like to hire uga guys , but what about Todd Monken ?

Don’t care if the triple comes back or not, but we absolutely must avoid anything like the Bobinski years again. It’s no fluke that the guys who made nfl rosters/practice squads came after we started to fund recruiting again.

I remember thinking to myself after we lost to UGA 51-7 in '02 that I would never forgive Gailey. These days, that result is expected under Coach Clown:

19: 52-7
20: wiped out
21: 45-0 (could have been a lot worse)

Ditto. I was in Athens that day and ffs it was awful. It would be many years before I’d go to a GT-UGA game in Athens again.

The argument that the coach must be extended to ensure they have four years remaining for recruiting purposes is a bogus idea created by coaches and agents to ensure a big buy out.
Yep, with the transfer portal the way it is, players can just enter the portal as soon as they know their coach is going to be fired.

The new cut block rules are making option offences hard to run. You are no longer allowed to block below the knees outside of the tackle box. So now those smaller A backs cannot swing outside an block defenders with a dive. Before this ruling I'd be ok going back to Monken or Bohannan but I think this new rule will significantly change how option offence run.

No. He rode CPJs coattails and got worse as his players matriculated.

I mean, a cut block trades your blocker for a defender (your guy goes to the ground, and ideally the defender does too). You could still run all the plays with the A-backs staying on their feet and blocking traditionally.

Then our A-backs would have to be much bigger which compromises speed. A-backs are small but fast and it was more effective for them to cut. You even had WR come in and cut linebackers. Point is an A-back weighting at most 200lb may 210lb would be blown up by a LB weighing at least 230lb. The defender would just push the blocker into the runner which we have seen before. The cut allowed smaller blockers to slow the defender and push their footing back. Maybe if all the A-backs were like Anthony Allen then it might work but Allen didn't have the speed like Roddy Jones, Godhigh, Snoddy, Hill, etc. Allen also wasn't a big receiving threat like other traditional A-backs usually are. Once Dwyer left he became a B-back.

I just don't think the offence would be as effective now.

I was being sarcastic. I thought it was obvious, but I guess it’s tough to tell with our fan base.
Lacking a sense of humor seems to be a common theme when it comes to anything GT sports. If we can't laugh at our own team's woes, then we have no business criticizing anybody else, but I digress.
