Official Don’t Burn Pyron’s Shirt Petition

Slow....to start. Poor footwork. Average, at best, arm. Can't throw the deep ball. Bad timing on slants and out routes. Lack of football IQ. Poor pocket presence. Just observations. Maybe, with the right coach, he will be average. But, we need better.
A lot of those can be improved and there's plenty of evidence that whatever coaching he gets in the future can be better than it is now. Maybe too early to say he is the future, but it is also probably too early to say he can't be.

I just don't see it. But, here's to hoping.

You perfectly defined 3 year starter Sims with the exception of average arm.

Even if his problems are as you say and don't get better, such QBs have probably gone 6-6 before. We need to start somewhere, a true freshman probably isn't that somewhere and given what we've generally gotten from the portal I wouldn't pin my hopes on that either.

With the right head coach, this can all be fixed in a year. Whether the fix come from Pyron or we recruit someone better. I don't want to waste time trying to groom someone to be a QB, while continually losing. Again, I think my expectations are different than most.

Maybe your expectations are much lower than mine. I want above average or better. I am seeing much different things. Poor mechanics, lack of field awareness and lack of arm are hard things to correct.
He was just brought off the scout team. Joe Ham had some of those issues his freshman season too. I’m not saying Pyron will be that good but you are judging way early.

Wow, I could not disagree more. He may not be fast, but he’s an effective runner. I have the exact opposite opinion on his football IQ, and I’ve been impressed with his pocket presence for a freshman. Sure his timing is off sometimes and he may have issues reading coverage, but he is a TRUE FRESHMAN and only just started getting first team reps. It’s far too early to pass judgement on those things.

If we can establish any semblance of offensive identity, I think he would be a great QB to build around for the future.

He’s also playing behind a porous OL with crap coaching and pretty much zero prep before stepping up. Imagine if he had good coaching for an offseason, reps in the spring, and a solid OL.

His pocket presence is actually what I would have said is most impressive about him given that he's a true freshman, has only been off the scout team a few weeks, and is playing behind a really bad oline.

If I am wrong about Pyron, so be it. However, if you are willing to "wait" the 2 or 3 years, to get good, you have better patience then I do. Listen, I was high on Sims. However, whether it be poor coaching, lack of team talent or his lack of football IQ, it didn't pan out. If a better scheme can be built for Pyron, then maybe he can succeed. As it is.....he will not be anything than just another name, in a long line of failed QBs.

You got a nether plan?

Yes, I am aware of this. Sims, Pyron and Gibson all share the same issue. A poorly coached team, with little to no talent. At least, talent to match the level of play. I foresee a complete change in coaches, next year. Not one single coach has done anything, to deserve to continue employment. With that said, I also haven't seen a QB that is ready to be "the guy". All of them have failed. We can argue as to whose fault is whose. But, bottom line. We are a bad team. I haven't seen anything promising, from any of our QBs to think they are ready.

Was Hamilton “ready” as a freshman? No.

We'll have a new coach next year. We aren't going to magically be good no matter what. Might as well give Pyron some time to improve and become the main guy at Tech. We don't have a better option on the bench.
