Ole Miss opens -21.5

I don’t think Thacker is good enough to prevent what’s coming. We should have flushed his ass last year.
I cannot figure this. Why, of all the coaches who got canned, did we keep hold of him? It made no sense then and it really makes no sense now. Isn't Sherrer listed as co-DC? Problem is Sherrer's LB group has not exactly been a shining star either. Though Oliver is a player! I like how he attacks the ball and arrives with a nasty demeanor.

I can’t decide if Thacker was given a chance to see what he could do under a different coach or if he was retained as a sacrificial lamb if the season took a downturn.

The offense is making him look bad. The improvement on that side of the ball is obvious. The D didn’t have the influx of transfers, so that doesn’t help.

Our DB's are improved from last season and the prior seasons when the goal was to look jacked from the weight room. I think we hold our own against Mississippi. They didn't exactly look like world beaters against Tulane. Just need those 3rd down stops. We have had a lot of well defensed pass plays. We are gonna pick a few from Dart.

King and crew are about to go ham on Ole Miss. We spread the ball around. We have depth at RB, at least speed depth. We have some ballers on offense that gelled a bit Saturday.

It wasn't like the O, but the D had its share of transfers. Kelly (DL - USF), Reuben (DL - Clem), White (LB - TAMU), Oliver (LB - MN), Moala (LB - ND/ID), Dean ( LB - Rut), Brown (S - MSU), and Daniels (CB - K St). The O retained more of its 2-deep than the D did. Losing Thomas, Eley, and White really, really hurt that front 7.

At the very least need to cut the LB group a little bit of slack. We don't lose guys like Thomas and Eley without taking a big step back (is also why half those transfers are LB). The thing to see is if that group improves over the season.

Agreed. I thought Oliver, especially, played well and he did grade out pretty high.

I’m not quick to be critical of players but I have no idea what the staff sees in Moala. Only thing I can guess is he picked up the mental side and the others are struggling with that.

If your main point of reference for this spread is last year's match up then sure
a 3 score spread seems appropriate.

But Ole Miss was losing at half and tied going into the 4th against Tulane with a backup QB. They scored 20 pts in the 4th to pull away, 6 of those coming from a Jared Ivey scoop and score.

I didn't watch the game but the box score is intriguing. Ole Miss 1/13 on 3rd down conversions. I hope our coaches noted what Tulane did there and can find a way to replicate. With Bama and LSU looming in the next 2 weeks I'm hoping we catch them off guard

Line moves toward Tech to 20.5.

3 touchdown underdog. Ouch.
