One More Year

I don’t understand wanting P’node gone. Unlike the defense, the offense has noticeably improved every season. He’s putting up points regularly with inconsistent QB play and only an average WR corps. I’m not saying he’s the best OC on earth, but if you’re already turning over most of the defensive staff then some continuity on offense makes a lot of sense to me.

People whose first instinct is "fire all the coordinators!!!" are so amateur hour. No one here is able to identify what the issues with any individual are or if they're on track to being fixed or not. GT hasn't had any successful coordinators since the 90's, but if anyone follows other programs, it ALWAYS goes that the coordinators suck and need to be fired until they...don't, and they get poached by P5 programs to be a HC. For all any of us know, Pnode is an overlooked diamond in the rough turning it on in the final stages of his career and just needs a few players to look like a genius. We can all see that GT blows right now, but putting it on individuals right now is insane.

Didn’t we go through this merry go round with Gregory?

Otherwise, ‘23 becomes a count down clock each game until we can fire his ass and the program enters a death spiral it will struggle to recover.
Would one year of lame duck coaching really do that? Would it be worse than maybe having to have the cheapest staff in P5 football?
Maybe we could extent him for two years but the extra buy out is 100k each year.

We’ve improved, but from a truly terrible level. Our offensive fei is in the 75 ballpark. That’s just bad. We’ve played a lot of bad defenses this year, which helps the offense look better.

The defense is trash.

I'd think that's exactly what happens if T Stan has any sense. It'll get renegotiated anyway if Geoff can actually manage to win next year, no reason to keep penalizing ourselves.

Yes, and I don’t believe the next 2 games will cause any improvements in our FEI’s, so we could end up worse than now, easily. I could see offense dropping to 90 or below.

Next coach won’t win either.

Tennessee is on coach 7
Florida is on coach 5
FSU is on coach 3

All those programs more likely to win than GT.

GT needs some donors to pay $$$ to 5-star recruits and their families like Georgia, Bama, Clemson and OSU. No hope for GT football in the current landscape unless that happens.

With all due respect I don’t buy the pay the recruit story I just think that’s an excuse to hide behind when a team loses. There’s very few 18-22 year olds that could keep their mouths shut if they were being paid. There are even fewer that could keep their mouths shut if they weren’t being paid. That’s not saying this never occurs or hasn’t occurred but there are too many people that would have to keep their mouths shut (who can’t) for this to be a systemic problem at schools who win. GT has donors that could do this if this was a thing. GT produces the best and the brightest, people who earn tons of money way more than the supposed idiots coming out of UGA. So, IMHO build a program that gets to bowl eligible then it gets to winning their division in the ACC, then win the ACC title. The time that people spend fretting about UGA and beating them is fun to talk about but buys the program nothing at this stage. UGA doesn’t give two öööös about GT in their eyes you barely exist, if I’m you I would return that favor. Build a winning team then UGA will give a öööö. GT recruiting has improved and that’s absolutely critical. Your offense changed and that was critical. Amidst the loses there are some good things happening, there are a few pieces missing or that need changing but you aren’t light years away from success.

You keep repeating the same thing in every thread and every time you're still wrong.

Clean house on the coordinators. Make Key the OC and get an OL coach who we pay like an OL coach.Key can name 2 new assistants. Whoever he wants to keep or cut. If he flops at OC, so be it. It will put him in or out of a future HC pool.

Cut the DC and find a new one. The new one can bring along 2 guys. Let the new DC cut whichever 2 guys he thinks isn’t cutting it.

Keep Collins two more years until the buyout is manageable or we are winning.
I'll take away the poo emoji if you say this was a joke to suggest we should promote Key to OC after his previous OC experience.

Per the AJC’s 2019 article with his contract details:

“If he were to be fired within the first four years, Collins would receive 100 percent of the remaining value of the deal. After that, he would receive $2.4 million for each remaining season.”

Soo when after year four would the reduced buyout take effect?? Jan 1, 2023? Or the minute our season is over? Understanding this date is key; could potentially reduce buyout to $7.2M after next season.
If the contract says WITHIN 4 years, then the reduced buyout SHOULD go into effect AFTER the 4th season, meaning the minute that season is over.

No it is t.

Did you see the game yesterday? If P'Nut is so good (or even adequate), then why change the offensive game plan midway through the 2nd quarter from what had been working extraordinarily and consistently well, to the same crap he has called in previous games that failed to do much once inside the 20?

I’m wrong about what? That Tennessee, Florida and Florida state are all significantly better football programs than Georgia Tech by any measure—-wins, losses, championships in the past 50 years, fan support, recruiting, number of players in the NFL, money, prestige? You honestly believe that if we could fire Collins (we can’t) there’s a top level coach and staff that can come in here and make us a top 25 program in the next five years? Seriously? Do you not remember how many weeks Tennessee went without a head coach because nobody wanted that job the last time? Was it over two months? Georgia Tech would be absolutely embarrassed at the lack of interest in a head-coaching job.

Now, by all means, please tell me which one of these opinions I am “wrong “about.

I’m serious. If you fire him otherwise, you risk ticking off some of the former players. Let him sink or swim. I know his time at UCF was bad. At least this way everyone knows he got his shot.
