One More Year

I’m wrong about what? That Tennessee, Florida and Florida state are all significantly better football programs than Georgia Tech by any measure—-wins, losses, championships in the past 50 years, fan support, recruiting, number of players in the NFL, money, prestige? You honestly believe that if we could fire Collins (we can’t) there’s a top level coach and staff that can come in here and make us a top 25 program in the next five years? Seriously? Do you not remember how many weeks Tennessee went without a head coach because nobody wanted that job the last time? Was it over two months? Georgia Tech would be absolutely embarrassed at the lack of interest in a head-coaching job.

Now, by all means, please tell me which one of these opinions I am “wrong “about.

By all means, keep building up those strawmen and stabbing away relentlessly. I get it, it's a psychological coping mechanism, but you don't need to keep subjecting us all to your world of deep insecurities.

Looks like 2023 it is.

We can win games with Patenaude but Collins needs to take this as his once chance to clean house on defense and hire someone who knows what the hell they are doing. I would be calling up people like Chryst and Ferrentz and these places that have outsized defenses compared to their recruiting to see who we can interview tomorrow. If he doesn’t fire Thacker at the end of the season and go in a new direction his coaching career will be in the lame duck period for 2 seasons.

Then, there’s no point then in keeping him after ‘22. You only prolong having to *actually* do the greatest transition in the history of college football when kids portal jump on top of recruiting tanking to horrific depths because we’ve got a <3 year head coach under contract.

No one. No one can sell under those conditions.

I think 6-7 wins next year probably gets one year added, but hopefully not a higher buyout. Next year is the decision year.

Did you see the game yesterday? If P'Nut is so good (or even adequate), then why change the offensive game plan midway through the 2nd quarter from what had been working extraordinarily and consistently well, to the same crap he has called in previous games that failed to do much once inside the 20?
I was at the game yesterday. We never stopped moving the ball up and down the field until we were forced to throw down 8 with 2 mins left, where our poor pass blocking was exposed.

If I recall from memory, our 2nd half offense was drive the length of the field then stall out inside the 5. Kick FG. Drive the length of the field then throw a terrible interception inside the 5. Drive the length of the field and score the game tying TD (before a PAT doink). I may be missing a punt or two… but we seemed effective to me.

Then fire the AD Stans after the dolt negotiated this horrible deal. Not sure anyone was knocking down Collins door at Temple.
YoU dOn’T uNdErStAnD!!1! No OnE wAnTs To CoAcH hErE!1!

Oh and also the option can’t work in a P5 conference, so we won’t be doing that moving forward. Just don’t look at the 11 previous years prior to this statement…

When we did move the ball down the field after the middle of the second quarter, what you describe is mostly correct, although I do think I remember a few series when we never moved the ball down the field, or at least not as far as you say. At any rate, other than Yates' massive booboo (which unfortunately is all on him), P'Nut's play calling down deep seemed always to come up short.

You're wrong in saying that we have to cheat to succeed. It's been proven that it can work here in the last decade. We didn't maintain it well, and for that I largely blame a lack of help from the AD on recruiting.

Perhaps you have a different measure of success?

Is what we have to endure before I think we can realistically get rid of Collins.

It’s not going to happen with him, if he can’t coach now he won’t be able to later. It was a fun idea, but it’s time to move on. He’s made more coaching mistakes in 1 game than CPJ in 1 season.

Let’s go get 3 more wins next year and then move on.
TRUTH!

Clean house on the coordinators. Make Key the OC and get an OL coach who we pay like an OL coach.Key can name 2 new assistants. Whoever he wants to keep or cut. If he flops at OC, so be it. It will put him in or out of a future HC pool.

Cut the DC and find a new one. The new one can bring along 2 guys. Let the new DC cut whichever 2 guys he thinks isn’t cutting it.

Keep Collins two more years until the buyout is manageable or we are winning.
Promote Key? Lololololol

1) Wow, this buyout is crazy. TStan should be fired immediately. Collins was on no other school’s radar. This guy is a true con man and TStan got duped

2) If I am TStan, I would ask for a restructured deal from Collins and demand defensive staff overhauled. I am Okay with the offense other thank Key but from what I’ve heard Key brings some other intangibles to the team so I would keep him.

After the attendance of yesterday, and the redout that is to come, I think they'll have to come to a settlement. I just don't see how the AA can sell season tickets if the status quo is maintained.
I am hearing this is a serious option at the this point. Going to be interesting if Geoff Collins does a Hewitt payment plan or if he is like CPJ and renegotiate the buyout figure.

We can raise $100 million in an overall Athletics initiative to improve facilities including a new Edge building, but can't raise a few mil for an early buyout? Some of these high rollers need to step up if they care as much as they say they do.
We raised over 40M of the goal. So we have money for the buyout. What I am hearing is how CPJ was treated at the end of his time at Tech is causing any future coaching candidates the "want to" when it comes to replacing Coach Collins.

Judging by Pastner's comments after the basketball game last night, he's convinced CGC is going to get it done at Tech.
Instead, I think Collins is done at Tech. It's just a matter of when and how much cash to fork over.

I'm firmly in the "Collins is a clown" camp but IF he can keep the class together and bring in one or two more studs and IF he purges the defensive staff and brings in a good defensive coordinator I could see giving him one more year to see how things turn out.

If I asked you for $10K to fix your house and you gave it to me, would you give me more money when I bring in a bunch of hobos from the street and they just throw paint on the walls and one of them takes a öööö in your living room and now I ask you for more money to get rid of them?

"Listen guy, do you want the hobos or not?"
