Our coaches suck

I 100% agree with Knox's point that the choice isn't as binary as 3/o or CGC.

I had monkey at the top of my list for reasons already stated:
No "biggest transition"
The offense was proven
Younger guy with proven track record
Continued the gt identity as the 3/o

We definitely have more recruit * now, but I still find the strategy of "do what everyone else does and we'll out-recruit them" as very high risk and rather against the odds for a comparatively small & specialized school. On top of that,it's a massively uphill battle to ramp up recruiting while not winning.

I think we have to find a coach that can actually outscheme our opponents and put our athletes into a position to punch above their weight. I don't know if the 3/o is the best way to do it now that we've already paid the cost to move away from it, but something big has to change.

Multiple things can be true as shocking as that is!

1. Johnson was mediocre post 09
2. Johnson left a ööööty roster
3. Johnson quit because he knew we were going to suck.
4. Our fan base is dwindling
5. Fans generally enjoy passing offenses
6. Collins has recruited better
7. Collins recruits are very young
8. Collins has marketed the program well
9. Collins has hired poorly
10. Collins is a bad in-game coach
All 100% true.

You and a few of your gen x or millennial buddies are more than welcome to pony up $100m or so to AA in order to have things however you want.
Also, just want to acknowledge and express appreciation for your post - your Participation Medal is coming FedEx. We understand how fragile your generation is, so hang in there and don’t have a complete mental and emotional breakdown on us, ok?

Which generation are criticizing? The one that was given participation trophies or the one that decided that was how children should be raised?

And that’s the thing that CGC sympathizers use, acting like CPJ was so bad so that makes CGC so good

They do not have the sixth best defense in the nation. They just have the sixth best defense relative to the competition they play, which is very weak. Move them to any P5 conference, and they wouldn’t even have the sixth best defense in their conference.

Fei defensive rankings
Vt - 52
Afa - 58
Gsu - 85
Gt - 89

Who should have been hired if not Collins?
I think who should be hired to take over for Collins is a bigger issue as everyone saw how CPJ was treated after his time on the FLATS, not sure any decent Coach will come and to make things worse we have a certified clown show...sad and times....truly sad times when you think how special Georgia Tech is.

We can continue to argue about how good or bad the roster CPJ left was for years to come; but the truth is we will never really know because we DO KNOW the current coaching staff cannot get the most out the talent they have. With the exception of a few position coaches, it is doubtful this coaching staff could go over .500 if you gave them BAMA or Ohio State's roster.

CPJ was allowed to leave on his own terms, what was the issue with how CPJ was treated?? I doubt most know or care about how much the 404 crowd whines about the roster CPJ left every season.

We have a different definition of successful. Gravy training Collins recruiting for two years and then cratering and having one fluke amazing season isn’t successful. Having a worse winning percentage against FBS teams than Chan Gailey isn’t successful.
Cratering? More like regressing to the mean. Johnson had multiple seasons that reached levels we had barely sniffed since Dodd. Outside of that, his results were typical GT fare, with one massive injury-riddled outlier that may have been the worst season of his entire coaching career. The sad part is, that career low for CPJ has been the high water mark for Collins.

I know you’re dug in on this, but it’s a dumb argument. Like, really dumb.

There are about 8 transfers on the team where it quite clear Collins can’t spot talent. Transfer evaluation is far easier than high school cause it’s a closer apples to apples and all that.

Everyone needs to stop this Collins is a good recruiter nonsense. He’s not.

Reading comprehension not your specialty?
I was suggesting rodzilla (and apparently you) should start putting cash where your mouth is vs blaming the folks (identified by rodzilla as evil boomers) currently paying all the AA bills for not running AA the way you want.
Put up some money or stfu…is that clear enough for you?

1. Get rid of the alternating uniforms. It’s Whote and Gold dammit!
2. Get rid of the music during practice and the game!
3. No alcohol inside the stadium period. I heard more foul language from a bunch of drunkards in section 231 than I’ve ever heard at any sporting event.
What a genius idea take away a revenue stream from a program with no $.
I would have called you a pu**y if I was sitting in section 231.

I genuinely don't think we need to "outscheme" opponents to win. We've shown we can get Top 25 recruiting classes. Get those and be better than average at developing players and getting disciplined execution of the schemes we do have. That will result in consistently being in the Top 25 rankings and challenge for ACC titles every year.

The only top 25 class 247 shows us having is 2007, we'll see where 2022 ends up once it is signed. We need to either out develop our players, or out scheme our opponents. Right now it looks like we aren't doing either. We aren't even in the top tier of the ACC recruiting classes.
