Our coaches suck

I genuinely don't think we need to "outscheme" opponents to win. We've shown we can get Top 25 recruiting classes. Get those and be better than average at developing players and getting disciplined execution of the schemes we do have. That will result in consistently being in the Top 25 rankings and challenge for ACC titles every year.
I don’t think we NEED to either. But I also really like doing it.

Boomer boosters didn't like the option and sarcasm in pressers so now we just lose every game and are never competitive. It's like ruining the housing market, health care, national debt, military, and national security wasn't enough so they ööööed GT football on the way out too. Thanks a lot.

But hey no mean tweets!

took the words out of my mouth.

We need to bring in a Midwestern guy. Southerners are losers. Collins is a Southerner. Nick Saban had to drag the SEC, kicking and screaming, into realizing their advantages. Give me a coach from Ohio, Chicago, or Michigan.

Not sure why we can't even discuss how our coaches suck without people presenting this false dichotomy of what we have now and the triple option.

There are actually plenty of coaches across the country who manage to have success with our current talent level (or less), and most of them are not running anything remotely resembling CPJ's offense. Let's stop acting like his genius was the only thing keeping us afloat or the only way for Tech to win games.

I can understand getting beat physically. Playing and coaching stupid just shouldn't happen near as often as it is doing - our players are supposed to be academically superior to most other team's players. I expect us to coach to that advantage and players to know what they are supposed to do and when.

I still can‘t believe that neither Key nor Choice, both GT players, haven’t given Collins a code red yet. How do they come to work everyday and deal with this. Imagine what must go thru their minds during meetings and on the practice field.

The one thing I will remember the Collins years for will be Gibbs much like the main memory from Chan is Calvin. Gibbs will give us several years of fun in the NFL.

Who cares about the NFL?

StraighFresh, you said something that made NO sense when you claimed, "Southerners are losers." What? Steve Spurrier, Bobby Ross, Bobby Bowden, Dabo Sweeney, Kirby Smart (I hate to admit), and Paul Johnson to just to name a few were (and are) successful football coaches from the south. These are recent and active coaches. Of course, Bobby Dodd and Bear Bryant from the distant past were from the south. By the way, Nick Saban grew up in West Virginia, not Ohio, Chicago, or Michigan. There are very good coaches that come from ALL parts of the country, including the south! Why run down a whole group of people from a particular region, anyway?

GO JACKETS!

Calls anyone from outside the perimeter in GA a racist redneck. Posts öööö like this. I don't just dislike you, I'm ashamed people like you are associated with an otherwise fine institute.

And that poster loves it. Without it, he doesn't have his CPJ sucked worse than Gailey nonsense.
Only people on the crack pipe or were not around at the time would ever say they had a more enjoyable experience as a fan when Chan was coaching than when CPJ was coaching.

Also with a name like knoxjacket you'd think he would be aware of what happened to a team in Knoxville whose once successful coach wore out his welcome and was shown the door. That team has been garbage over a dozen years now and they have 10x more going for it as a football factory than GT.

I agree 100%, and I think most others do, too. But as long as Collins keeps losing, we are going to keep hearing CPJ comparisons. He won a lot of games here, and there are still some people who feel like he was treated unfairly, leading to his retirement. Not to mention it’s a pretty direct comparison - he won a lot more games than Collins is, with lesser or (at best) equal talent to what we have now.

The thing is: we are improving. Just at a very slow rate. We will be better by year 5 of this staff and hopefully by that time they’ll be better too.

the first half thing has to stop but I fear it won’t. We are not good game planners.
By better do you mean a .500 team?
