Post game Discussion 111.12.3

Honestly, the O line played good enough to win. The dropped passes, King playing like trash, the idiot play calling and the defense were the problem.
I respect what you’re saying but I can’t agree with they played good enough to win. After the first two possessions they went amiss in my opinion and just physically got man handled.

This was deflating. I’ve been coming to Death Valley for a long time and was really expecting a win today. We ööööed up that first series, still came back and took a 7-0 lead, but it was all downhill from there. Never thought we’d get blown out.

I always stay the night with my lifelong CU grad friend, we typically go to breakfast the next morning after games, but I’m packed and getting ready to make the 2-hr drive back to Forsyth this afternoon. What a damn letdown.
Dang. So depressed not even staying for the booty call.

Jeff Sims had 2 interceptions and a fumble, so that was fun. That's about it.

Flush this game and move on. This was always between a 5-7 win team. GT lost a game they shouldn’t have (BG) and won a game they shouldn’t have (@ Miami). Next week is the season. Beat Syracuse next week, and GT assures themselves of early Spring practices and some positive momentum going into 2024. Lose next week, and 2024 will be the year the program either progresses or something has to change again.

Why the obsession with yanking King? Other than maybe preventing an in injury. He is QB1 and we weren't winning this one, regardless. Season comes down to Syracuse.
It’s just a limited crew of guys who always suck off the backup. They know he isn’t coming in, but they like the turmoil of undermining the starter and being “right” in arguing the unknown (that the backup is better).

King definitely had a rough day but for the most part I did not see any open receivers. Our OC and receivers coach have got to figure that out … and of course the drops. Unfortunately we don’t have the 6’4” guys who can go up and snatch the ball out of the air.

No. Nobody played well enough to win, and especially not the OL. Pass blocking was absolutely atrocious, and run blocking was inconsistent at best. Not excusing King in any way, because he played awful, but it’s hard to get in any kind of rhythm when guys are in your face almost immediately on every snap.

Hell, even when we were playing better at the beginning, the OL false started on two different occasions to put us behind the chains in a difficult situation.

So it’s everyone’s fault, except the OL? Yeah. Sure. OK. Not sure what game you were watching. How about just accepting GT lost to the more talented team and move on already.

Trash. It started on O and permeated the team. A garbage effort all around by coaches and players. All should be embarrassed.

I don't see it that way. I thought we played hard. We had some penalties and dropped passes early, when we had a chance to get a couple of scores ahead. Then, the defense got tired from being on the field too long. The main problem with Tech football is that we can't overcome that type of a scenario. The biggest game of the season is next week. That's the game that will determine how this season is remembered, in my opinion.

My only real takeaway is that there is still a noticeable talent gap that we need to work to shrink. The most glaring difference is the athleticism of their defense.

Chalk it up as a bad day at the office. No reason to make this be more than it is. Move on to Syracuse.

They played like they were conceding the loss in favor of playing Syracuse for a crappy bowl.

He had plenty of time to throw all those picks lol

And 14 pts early means King is likely looser and less likely to try and force throws resulting in fewer picks and an entirely different game.

Plus the defense would have gotten some rest, and momentum would have been on our side. But, next week is the most important game of the year. I didn't think we played bad today. The offense just missed some big plays, and the defense got exhausted from being put on the field too long. If we beat Syracuse, the season will be a success. Then, maybe we will get all the luck against Georgia that we didn't get today.

Initial observations:

1. Hard to play with a swiss cheese O-line
2. King did not have the best day. But also WRs seemed to get jammed up easily. There was a lot of PI not being called on Clemson
3. We have to find another a way to generate offense if a team stacks the box, spies King and jams up Singleton
4. Yards after contact haunts us
5. Broadcast sucked from $hitty announcers to camera guys

Dabo made sure to rub our face in it all game. I hope we turn the ship around soon and can be a thorn in his side the rest of his tenure.
No fan of Dabo, but he did play 3 quarterbacks and the 2 backups rarely threw the ball.
