Post game Discussion 111.12.3

After today, it's gonna be a long time before that happens. Clemson is young on defense. Besides, they just straight up manhandled us on both sides of the ball for the last three and a half quarters. With a backup and patchwork O line (theirs, not ours).
We still have a very long way to go.

The fact that they went for it on 4th down so much indicated that they had no respect for us.

I had a great time. Clemson people are nice to tailgate with. Our oline got embarrassed. Except for a few times they did good covering some of our smallish receivers. Many times they were blatantly holding. I like our wr’s but we definitely need more size there. LB’s need improvement. Dline wasn’t bad but can’t be on the field all game.

Eh. Look at it as another way of coaching. Rub our players’ noses in öööö until they man up or quit. Makes Key’s job easier in the off-season

Let’s put it behind us and get bowl eligible next Saturday night against Cuse. Opportunity for first bowl in several years, although a lower tier one will be a step in the right direction for this program and a good building block. Plus the 15 extra practice days will be put to good use.

In my opinion, the game of football starts up front. If we want to play big boy football we have to get better up front on both sides of the ball. I do think we have gotten better since the beginning of the year, but we got a long way to go to compete with upper tier teams.

you have to be able to hit people in the mouth and impose your will.

All three phases were pretty bad. Probably worst performance by offense in a while.

Lane Train can change the day
Based on his track record in big games, I don’t have much faith in an upset later. I hope for the best though. 1 win of note against LSU this year which came down to the final play when it shouldn’t have been that close. Otherwise it’s been pretty ugly in big games.

We are a young team that got schooled today.Lots of poor plays but clem beat ND last wk which says a LOT about their talent./ability.
We just need to learn from it and beat Cuse next wk.This is Keys chance to show again his learning skills as a new coach.Beating Cse will show real yrly improvement and not just an erratic up and down program.

It’s going to be a tough one but much needed. I don’t know what was going on besides us losing but JBatt looked pissed the whole second half.

We could get a reaction from players, cheerleaders (both Clemson and GT). Slight waves from coaches. JBatt just looked pissed and could obviously hear us but wouldn’t even acknowledge us.

We definitely had too many dropped balls today, but no way should King have played the the 4th qtr. Guarantee you neither Haynes or Smith would have gotten another carry if they fumbled 4 times. There has to be a consequence for making those throws/decisions. What team can compete if their QB turns the ball over like King did today.

I mean what can JBatt do about it? Maybe get some more $$$ for assistant coach upgrades? More $$$ for the NIL initiative? That’s really all he can do to elevate the program this offseason.

Wave at fans that drive to support the team. At least acknowledge them.

I don’t think that was on his mind. Returning this program into an annual bowl team is priority #1 for him I assume. Today wasn’t exactly a good representation of the progress made over recent weeks. Especially since this was the first non ACCN, CW or SECN game GT has had since the UofL opener.
