Post game Discussion 9.30.2023

They met me when I was having an existential crisis involving GT football knowing that just beneath my feet (where the locker room is) that no adjustments were being made, no fire being lit. The guy next to me, who never drinks, had him a stress reducing beer after half. I should have gone and gotten two (you can buy two at a time) and gotten my buzz going.
This was JJ when we ran into him:

Alright, I slept on it but I don't feel any better. Tech just needs to clean house. All coaches, all players associated with clown just need to go. Otherwise the stank will always be there. Just like when the Falcons blew the SB, that coaching staff and talent evaluators just needed to go. Otherwise it is just a long running joke. This coaching staff is no better than the last one, other than no more stupid money down gimmick BS. It is just one big ööööing joke and it isn't funny.

anyone that has season tickets or goes to the games is still a great fan to me. and has a right to criticize anything they feel like. Understand that a loss a loss hurts them and this one was bad.
I wish after being a season ticket holder for 40 years and having to stop going to the game year is killing me. I want to support the team and all I can do is buy season tickets for my daughter who went with me to the games for those 40 years.

Most understand the one year is not enough time to build a team back and Key needs time. in 2020 FSU hired a new coach and the first thing he did was tell Sims they didn't need him. A lot of people on here thought he was crazy (not now), Then he only won 3 games and loss to a very bad team (us) that year. Next year in 2021 they only won 5 games. I'm sure their fan base wanted him gone. Then he turned thing around last year. Am I saying Key will do that here in 2 years, I really hope he can do it next year, but he has to get his players in the system.

I would like to see him take a very hard look at the defensive staff and tell them to spend more time on tackling. And have a very long talk with the coordinators and tell them you have to start making adjustments in the game once the other team makes them against us.

Greatest transition in college football 2.0

This L is on the D. The O did not play well, but they were pressing to keep up with the points the D was rapidly giving up.

Key better make excuses or toss players under the bus. It will do him in just like it did TFG.
After the second TD, when we were up 14-0, offense went three and out, three and out, then four and out.
Their inability to do a damn thing when they could have put this game away early kept putting the defense back out on the field. Less than eight minutes TOP in the first half, when we led for most of it.
Nah, offense has to be on the hook for this debacle too. Look, Thacker needs to go, sooner or later. But the offense had a big hand in letting BGSU back into this game.
Our six possessions between touchdowns totaled 124 yards of offense and barely nine minutes of possession.
As hot as the fire under Thacker's seat should be, it ought to get warm under Faulkner and Weinke too.

I stated that the O did not play well. I think they'd all agree there. Yes, the 2nd quarter they stunk. However, the 2nd half they moved the ball but were having to throw it all over the lot to try to keep up with BG's scoring and King tossed 2 INT. Had the D just gotten 1-2 stops, we win that game.

The O still needs work, the D needs a total overhaul. This L was not on the O.

We need to train like we are going to Iraq.
Drill sergeants in players faces won’t fix a failed defensive scheme or make halftime adjustments. Key got rid of the zen yoga practice sessions week one. Our players got big heads after beating Wake Forrest. Coaches won’t hesitate to remind them they got manhandled by Bowling ööööing Green. If players talk back Key will know who to sideline. Sims made it easy for him, but it’ll take time to root out other lingering Collins mentality. Kirby Smart probably deals with more head cases than Key, but it’s not because Georgia’s practice sessions are too soft.

A friend of mine had the most spot-on critique of Gailey I ever heard.

“That guy has a seven win face. That’s the best he’ll ever do.”
Tell Dave Braine we said hi.

The biggest comeback in CFB history was Bobby Ross at Maryland over Miami (I think Miami). He essentially told the team, down huge at half, that he was going to work them in practice until they ööööing died. Maryland players responded and won.

He then, as our players at GT were quitting on him, gave them an option. Since they wouldn't play for him or motivate, he would resign from GT, up to them. Our players manned up and came through for coach.

I just don't know if we have any of that on this team.

I expected us to come out in the second half on fire, down only three. Instead, we got another 3rd quarter disaster. What the hell is going on in that ööööing locker room at half. Our opposition comes out with a plan. We come out clueless as hell. It is more than just a one time occurrence. We legit suck after half.

And we can absolutely forget about any BIG10 or SEC dreams. We will be in some broken form of the ACC/AAC after UNC, Clemson, Miami, FSU, and perhaps UVA leave eventually for greener pastures. Even Duke has more of a shot now than us. We are a smouldering pile of öööö program right now.
Frank Reich was the QB in that Maryland-Da U game. So at one point he had the biggest comeback in NCAA and NFL history (the Bills vs. the Oilers in AFC playoffs).

It was a heartless, gutless effort from the players and a brainless one from the coaches.

3) and I don't need 130 decibel gameday PA. And nobody likes your öööö music. And did we blare Luke Bryan at one point? I am concerned that GT football has now become a psychological study by the CIA to see how far a man can be pushed and prodded before leaping from the north deck. Don't worry, I wouldn't jump. We aren't worth it. I'd just get hot pointed sticks and poke my eyes and ears out.
From our vantage in lower West, the East stands were sparsely populated. Hard to see how upper West looked and how the rest of lower West looked. But it wasn't a big crowd at all. We bailed mid fourth quarter.
And having Luke Bryan, a known Mutt lover, as a music choice? WTF was that?

How are people pooping on Faulker here? His O, even on an admittedly mediocre day yesterday, when he was ripped out of his game plan and having to try to catch up to stinking Bowling Green, still put up 417 yards of offense and really 31 points (we gave away an XP and passed on a chip-shot FG). Yes, it should have been 40+ points, but still... yesterday's loss was on the D.

Those guys just plain did not show up to play. That staff's hind ends ought to be rosy red from the butt whooping they've taken at the hands of Brent Key since last night.
A lot of those yards were meaningless when this game was already decided. Couldn't give a öööö less about 417 in total offense. Not when the O goes 3, 3, and 4 plays and out against Bowling goddamn Green in the first half after we had gone up 14-0.
Bowling Green had given up 31 to Liberty and 38 to Ohio.
No, the O is responsible too. When you can't get first downs and keep sending the D back out there having not even taken up a minute off the game clock, the offense is not above reproach.

Yes, the O pooped the 2nd quarter, misfiring on 3 key possessions plus the pick 6 in the 3rd. Certainly lots to work on, but they did a lot of good things, too. They bear some culpability, but the D was a total travesty start to finish. If I’m starting somewhere with a fix, it’s the D.

Surprisingly very few were even grumbling. The FSU fanbase has been very realistic that it was an institutional support issue and went about fixing the program as a whole once they found a coach they felt confident in turning it all around.
