This hurts the big hurt
My response to that presser in gif form-
He bailed to be the DC at Florida. Left a guy who had been a DB for the Steelers, I think, in charge. Was he the active DC for Miss State, when we thumped them in the Orange Bowl, or did he resign after the end of the regular season?
Except when the fans send in the play.Obviously he doesn't care about the fans at all.
Thacker’s is better. Not a ton of X’s and O’s but teaching and coaching philosophy and how they handle what happened as a staff.
Way more refreshing to hear.
Yet he will be the one who gets the coaching axe.Patenaude's presser is exponentially better. He takes responsibility and owns the problems. Not a bunch of horseshit.
They made some of those "mistakes" last year. What makes you think after this past Saturday that they have learned anything? As for the press conference itself, it is obvious CGC is not going to say anything negative about his players. He threw PJ’s under the bus, but won’t do that to his. And it’s obvious he does need people texting him that they love him after the loss.
But, bottom line, you either believe in his “process” or you don’t. I’m choosing to believe in it. I do think sometimes the way out of the lion’s den is thru the fire. Both he and the players learned from that loss and hopefully won’t make the same mistakes again.
I really like Thacker and I really want him to do well.
Any chance we can get CJP to introduce CGC to Ron Bell? Too soon?CGC said CJP texted/called to offer support following the NIU loss, and expressed his confidence in CGC.
The subtext was that CJP was saying to CGC, 'just stick it out, the team will have success, just like I did.'
So, yeah, not sure CGC and jts see CJP quite the same way.
Finally, all the criticism of the OC seems unwarranted. The play designs were working as we had receivers running free everywhere. It came down to our QB not finding them or passing it to them accurately.
As much öööö as Patenaude gets, his pressers are my favorite. Thacker's can be good, but he comes across like a robot at times. Collins' are basically just yakking up a bunch of fluff, going on 2.5 years now.
Wouldn't the OC see that the Qb couldn't find them or give them an accurate pass? If it's not working, stop calling it. It's like they go into the game saying play #62 is going to be a run and it doesn't matter if it is 2nd and 1 or 3rd and 18.
Agree. For a brand/marketing guy our HC has zero ability to communicate anything other that his scripted cliches. Embarrassing.Patenaude sounds like the HC. His reasoning for going for it on fourth was sound. He’s calm and cool during pressers. He isn’t adversarial nor does he fluff things up. He has a much better presence. He seems infinitely more comfortable in his skin.
Collins should take notes.
