Sims = Bilbo

Sims had some good moments and some "oh no" plays.
The big problem is this is first year with a legit OC and QB coach.
He isn't a natural runner. He doesn't run behind his pads and doesn't seem to have many moves. He could scramble ok but play calling on his running ability isn't a good idea.

You know, the other night I didn’t run behind my pads and my wife said I was “half a man”.

Sims was better than last year physically but still constantly looks at only his primary receiver. You could see the DBs headed straight to where he was looking. He did even on screen passes. We are not going to win doing this.

I don't know what this means. Does it mean I supported Patenaude? Because that is simply not the case.
Pnut should have been gone before year 3 same with CBK I think only reason we're keeping key is to replace collins that's why we brought in hevesy I think

Sorry. Y'all was directed at many on the board who defended Patenaude to a fault IMO. QB, being the most visible position on the field, is the first to show when poor coaching occurs. My point is even the most talented athlete will have a difficult time overcome two years of WTF coaching.

Sims was, by far, the best player out there last night, with McCollum and our PK getting honorable mentions. He made 2 mistakes (OMG He wasn't perfect!!!) but looked far better last night than a year ago.

Bonus: He didn't admit to on-field interviewer at halftime that he was literally afraid of Clemson. He left that job to Clown Coach.

He looked much, much better than Ukelele, who flat-out sux as a QB. Clemson fans should be calling for Streeter's job. He sux too. Outside of their DL, I thought Clemson was mostly overrated crap and I look forward to a couple of losses for those rednecks that will mercifully keep them out of the CFP. They lose to the mutts or 'Bama by 5 TDs.
Sims performed worse than Yates did a year ago, and the statistics prove that out.

How did Yates do against ND and UGA. Oh right, 0 pts. Hang your hat on the 8 we scored against Clemson though. We beat Clemson last year if Sims wasn't hurt.
How many points did Sims score against UGa and ND? Oh right, 0 points.

Yates got us in the red zone 3 times, Sims managed that once. Yates had a touch higher QBR, and generated more offense than Jeff.

Yates was an extremely-ineffective QB for us every time he snapped the ball. I wish him all the best & hope he finds a place to utilize his talents better than he was able to with the opportunity he had here.

I'll take 1 TD and 1 INT vs 0 TDs and 1 INT.
I'll take the guy who can actually move us downfield and get us within striking range. We kicked two field goals from inside the 10 yard line in the game last year. That's on Geoff, not Yates.

You sure about that?

Shouldn't someone block those two Clemson players?

Y'all need to stop with this Yates fanboi stuff. He was slow. He had a weak arm. He was short.

Yates couldn't get us into the end zone on any of the trips there. We win if he's able to. Sims would've thrown at least 2 TDs, possibly 3 and we would've won easily.

And he outperformed Jeff Sims against Clemson. I know you hate the guy, but he was a good player that got put in a lot of öööö situations.

You are probably pretty short too if I had to guess.

I don't remember much about Yates, other than the fact that we didn't seem to produce yardage or points when he was given a few shots at QB.

Usually the "I love the backup QB!" stuff is based on the backup coming in off the bench and saving the day but for Yates, it's for coming in & still losing. It's kinda ööööed up TBH.

Sims couldn't even get there but once, so no he wouldn't have.

We've already got a nice apples to apples comparison of Sims and Yates. Just look at the UNC splits. No need to wonder if we would have lost that game if Yates kept playing, it was a foregone conclusion.

This has to be the most ridiculous argument I have ever seen. Yates wasn't bad but if you think he was better than Sims then you should never be allowed to comment about football again. There is more to it than just stats of one game. Also, how many of those yards Yates had against Clemson were after the catch vs. in the air? He could not stand in the pocket and deliver a strike with velocity into tight windows and he wasn't as dynamic with his legs. He had his share of fumbles, bad sacks and ill-advised throws as well.

He was better than Sims against Clemson.

How many of Sims' passes' yards were after the catch? How is that even a bad thing? For all you know that could be due to targeting more open receivers instead of guys in heavy coverage, which is a positive.

I'm literally talking about performance against Clemson, so yes it is about 1 game - well 2, unless you want to include Sim's performance in 2020 too which wasn't pretty and doesn't help his case.
