Transfer Portal Tracker

We lose our best players. I don't see that happening much elsewhere unless they aren't getting playing time or their team sucks...

Who is the last top Bama or UGA RB/WR who transferred?

If you only look at the top two programs in college football over the past decade, you're right -- they get and retain much better players than we do. We are not on their level. But that was true both before and after NIL.

However, if you broaden your horizons to teams at or slightly above our level, you'll see the same thing happening to them. Lots of teams are losing solid contributors. And if you look not at just who we lose, but who we bring in, you'll see that our talent pipeline is healthier than it's been in many years, and that's due to how we've taken advantage of NIL and the portal.

Like most programs, the new landscape will both give and take away from us. But if we're smart, we can use it to bring ourselves closer to the top programs than we were before. And signs point to us doing that.

Singleton transferring is a risky decision. Leaving a program where you know you will produce to…an unknown.

Look at Nate McCollum. He completely disappeared and has no shot at the NFL now.

I bet Bama is shelling out some big bucks this offseason after their down year.

Something needs to be done to incentivize team loyalty

Maybe multi-year deals will become more prevalent since one-year deals aren't as great a value for universities

They are multi-year in other pro sports for a reason

Multi year deals with limited player movement is definitely in the future. Like you said, it happens in all other sports and pretty much everyone acknowledges the current situation sucks.

I think we'll end up with something like soccer -- players will still have some leverage to force moves to other teams, but the team letting them go will get compensated with a big transfer fee that they can then use to reload.

GT better invest in some better contract writers

We basically fed him jet sweeps all year while King's arm was hurt. I'm not surprised by this. We all expected it last year. Just go pick up a replacement and let him go Nate McCollum himself.

Malik doesn't drop gimmes and isn't magnetically attracted to the sidelines.

They literally just did that in the last week or 2.

I knew people would be overreacting. WRs are some of the most plentiful players out there. Take the $600K and spend it on 3 lower tier guys and hit on one. Then pay him more if he has 1,000 yards rather than 750. Sure, I would rather him be here but I'm not worried about it.

If he goes to UGAG I would be irritated.

Singleton is a loss that hurts, anyone saying that it isn’t is kidding themselves.

While he may have had some drops, he had a big 2nd half of the season and was still #1 in receiving yards and #4 in rushing yards. We found a way to get him the ball and let him make plays.

Malik isn’t as big of a target, and Bailey Stockton doesn’t have greasy fast speed like Eric. Both are solid receivers, but we must go to the portal to find an immediate gap fill with Eric gone…

If GT ever wants to be taken seriously in this new era of cfb, this simply cannot happen. You don’t lose your #1 WR to your rival or another SEC school.

The most frustrating part is Singleton is every bit a GT guy. He would host recruits and go out of his way for lengthy interviews with our marketing department, etc…. Hell, he even ran track here.

It obviously boils down to leaving for money. Do these other schools have NIL deals that are THAT much bigger than GT’s? Like I said earlier, he’s already taking a big risk by leaving a place where he’s #1 and knows he’ll put up numbers.

My only conclusion is that he’s gonna get a few mill somewhere else.

Tae Harris played both ways in HS, and has comparable speed to Singtleton. Sub 4.4 40

We should use him like Travis Hunter and rotate him in the receiving corps…

I would much rather skimp on skill position players if I’m in GT’s shoes. Look at NFL teams that spend a boat load of money at WR. They are not as successful. The fact is Singleton IS replaceable. He is not Calvin Johnson. He is a loss. It sucks. It’s not damning for the program.

Singleton has 10.3 100m speed, and that's clocked at an ACC track meet. Nobody on the team is that fast. Also, Penson is the most likely DB to play both ways.

Despite all the gnashing of teeth on the board, I still believe the transfer portal helps the middle ranked teams like Ga Tech more than it hurts them and has led to parity to an extent. Yes, mid level teams will lose stars like Gibbs and Singleton that might not have lost in the past, but on the other hand we pick up a lot of guys like Van den Berg that we would not have gotten in the past. Players used to sit on the bench at the powerhouses, now they transfer and sometimes are better than the guy that was playing in front of them when they are given the chance. The transfer portal is not all bad and I would say is actually a net positive for us.

I agree, no one on the team currently. Tae Harris runs a 10.6 100m and clocked a 4.38 40

Thought y'all were saying NIL is oh so good for GT?

In just a few years we've lost our best DL, RB, and WR.
And we picked up our 2025 Heisman hopeful QB and improved as a team overall. You don't think we're better today than 2 years ago? I'm not saying NIL is oh so good for GT yet, but it's too early to say it's been bad too.

Who let this dwag trash in here? Sucking up to uga toilet paper “degrees” is ridiculous.

I don’t care where Singleton goes unless it’s uga. If he goes there I hope he breaks a leg in their next car crash.
Spoken like a true idiot. I agree THWG but acting like a BBA from there is a bad thing is probably the dumbest thing I've read. What are you 12?
