Transfer Portal Tracker

The emotional rollercoaster of the portal has got me throwing cookies in the floor.

We’ve picked up some good players the past couple of weeks. Future is bright!
That’s why fans who say they are done with the sport, blah, blah, blah are just reacting emotionally. I’ll root for the Manley kid no different than I’d root for Height. And I surely won’t abandon a sport or my team because we replace a few replaceable players.

SMU bought their way into the ACC and the playoffs. Seems to be working as designed to me.

Maybe they should pay the CFB GMs and Directors of Player Personnel more than coaches too since those are the guys buying and scouting the personnel. Y’all have fun with your head in the sand :) A&M was a win away from getting into the playoffs if they had beat TU and the committee kept up with “not punishing teams for playing in the conference championship”.

I like the guys we are pulling in the portal. Helps make up for some losses and fills some gaps.

There's no doubt players are very important. You can't do it without them, and they deserve more than they're currently getting in my opinion.

But I didn't like the baseball analogy. Talent alone will not win you football games. Coaches are very important in football, moreso than any other sport -- and especially moreso than baseball.

Yes!!! Incredible stats

Any chance Height will deportal? Or did he commit aomwwhwrs?

So I don’t know how to react with portal commits. Would we rather get 4 star kids from the factories that couldn’t crack the starting rotation, or the 2-3 star kids that balled out at FCS and group of 5?
Seems like the former are always hit or miss, I’ll take the kid who balled out over the kid that didn’t live up to his potential and couldn’t get on the field.

I get what you’re saying. I’m bringing up baseball as more of a financial comparison with the current CFB climate. Soft/non-existent caps, free agency to the highest bidder with no holds barred, no real “hometown” allegiance.

I’m not mad at the kids for getting paid cause it was a long time coming. There are kinks in the system that need to get worked out and we as fans just have to take the good with the bad while everything gets worked out. I’ll be in Birmingham cheering us on no matter who is dressed out.

New Duke QB next yr is supposedly get $8M for 2 seasons. More then some FBS Head Coaches make.

Very interesting article with a lot of insight on how much is being paid out by teams and to players. My summary 1) Duke really spent $4MM on a QB? Duke? 2) What is going on with Texas Tech and their spending spree? 3) Singleton probably got $1MM based on numbers from this article. A hypothetical budget per my analysis from the article. Assuming about 35-40 players play significant snaps - pay 3 of them $1MM per another 15 $300K per and last 20 about $100K per and that is a total budget of $9.5MM. just guessing

Money does nothing to change the sport of football which is that offensive linemen determine how good the offense is and defensive linemen determine how good the defense is. That Key is investing in OLinemen and Duke invested in a QB tells you one team is trying to win while another is trying to excite their fanbase. I wasn’t the biggest Key guy and I am still hoping he grows into his Gameday job, but thankfully Key understands that the Lines are what matter and the skilled positions are replaceable outside of a Calvin, Tebow, or Cam types.

The Miami game was absolute proof that you can have the best hot shot at QB and you will get grinned down if the other team can just push you around, Look at Colorado. They had 2 of their best players in their history at skilled positions and still lost several games because they weren’t built inside out.
