We all know that Gus's offense is not conducive to good recruiting!
Way to be retarded about it. The fact of the matter is that Auburn's TO really doesn't outperform us by that much, despite their superior athletes. People just don't know how to prep for them (much like teams against us in '08/'09). Those stats against a common opponent are great, they show just how well our offense can perform in comparison to Auburn's (pretty öööö well - actually better in both halves when you take out the miracle tipped pass).
Funny, as I was watching the Auburn game I kept thinking why can't WE be this successful? I'd prefer a more modern version of the option. It's just my preference however. If anything else its a change from the same stuff that HASN'T been working. (at least not by my standards)
Ours would be that successful, or more, if we swapped rosters. The issue is the recruiting, not the offense.
Nick Marshall isn't flopping. He is, however, a Dawg castoff who did a stint in JuCo before Malzahn scooped him up and hid him in one of Auburn's joke majors. Which of those things do you think Paul Johnson can get away with?part of the recruiting is the two different schools and the circumstances of each school.
however, another large part is the fact that Malzahn can show kids film of his offense doing NFL stuff, namely, the OL are not constantly belly flopping on the ground in front of defenders.

Call it execution, coaching, or whatever... But we can beat teams like UGA, VT, Miami, and Clemson. Even with our current talent level.
Re-read the first line of his post, Allen.
Re-read Al's last name, 530.
On occasion, as in the "on any given Saturday" scenario, yes we can. But not consistently, and certainly not 12 out of 13 times.
yet, we have beaten no superior opponents.
We're better than 1/13 with UGA and I'm too lazy to look at the other records but we're better than whatever those are as well.
EVER NEVER?
Get off it. It's a good offense, I'll grant you that. But you can't seriously believe that if Auburn's entire offensive squad quit tomorrow and was replaced by GT's offensive squad that they'd still score 60 on Missouri. They wouldn't. Maybe 35, tops, and that's with Gus calling the plays. The same Gus that isn't going to come to Georgia Tech.
So what are you comparing again?
I'm not sure GT has ever scored more than 17 points against UGA without featuring an option based running game. Certainly hasn't happened in my lifetime that I'm aware of, and I'm pushing 40.
We won 27-15 in 2000. Was George Godsey running an option based offense?
