UGA 15 - Tech 1

The biggest surprise there is that UGA spends more than Bama & GT combined. Not surprised that UGA spends more than 4x as much as GT; but I was pleasantly surprised we now spend as much a mid-tier P5 program.

Depends on how you define it. We should be "competitive", middle of the P5, or bowl eligible every year; but not really competitive against top 5 or top 10 teams but maybe once every 4-5 years. We should never have back to back 3 win seasons. A 3 win season should be an exception, not the normal.

My biggest gripe is that the former players turned coaches didn’t flatten Collins tires on Friday nights or lock him in a closet on Saturday mornings. Seriously, the simple fact that Choice and Key didn’t resign at some point the last 2 years I just can’t understand. They both would have and still will have plenty of job opportunities so for them to watch this program burn when they had an active role is beyond. So the next time any former player acts like they care more than alums I’ll simply point to the Collins years when former players didn’t have the cajones to call someone out on behalf of everyone. And if they did “in private” and were obviously blown off by Collins that’s even worse they didn’t resign. I’m especially not thrilled with Key. Having worked under Saban he knew the first hour of the first practice that Collins had no clue and he has watched it burn for 3 years.
If you live long enough sooner or later you will be in a situation at your job where things are not going the way you want or expect. If you are still being paid well, most likely you ride it out until it gets better or becomes unbearable. In the meantime if you are any good at your profession you expect a better offer eventually.

Yeah, I get that. But, GT to pretty much every poster here is an entity we’d die for just about (a little exaggeration). I mentioned Key and Choice specifically because those two would have multiple high paying job opps the minute they resigned so the downside to them of voicing an opinion was way less than guys like Burton and other former players. Imagine if Choice would have voiced in public what we all know he is thinking. He would have been a GT hero and would return as our head coach one day. He still may but I lost some mojo for him by standing by and watching this clown show continue. I know he has a sledge hammer he could have used! Key apparently is just a guy taking a pay check and then will quietly disappear when this all comes to an end.

A LOT of innuendo here

No GT fans don’t show up. GT fans didnt show up after a 11 win or a Gator Bowl victory

Maybe you don’t go to the games. We may have had 25K there for a few games this season. I doubt we had more than 30K tech fans in there for any game all year. Worst avg attendance in 40 something years. In terms of capacity, it was the worst attendance in our history.

FWIW, it was pretty much the worst attendance across the board for CFB other than the few places that sell out every week. Not everybody was comfortable getting out post-COVID yet, and many realized how much nicer it is to watch from home in 2020.

I attend quite a few a year. Sound like you just described the UVA game of 2018 when we had a winning record and that was pre-COVID concerns

It looks like to me that Choice did exactly what you're talking about at the right time and the proper way. He busted his ass for the team under a weak OC. I expect he was voicing his opinion (don't know) and as soon as Todd announced full support for CGC, despite donor objections, Choice went to that new team. Publicly airing his opinions at any time would have burned every coaching bridge he had built.

Key on the other hand could be seen as the coach-in-waiting dealt a lousy hand by CGC, and he still probably is. By waiting it out, he now has Chaney, Long, and Weinke working along side and Patenaude is gone. It looks like any opinions he had were addressed.

How do we all know what Choice was thinking? There is no evidence he was ever anything but fully bought in to what Collins was doing.

What ya'll are missing is that year 1 was always going to be a complete mulligan and everyone got a free pass in year 2 because of Covid. That may have been a huge mistake, but that's the likely rationale for why heads didn't roll until year 3.

How exactly did CGC deal Key a bad hand?

It’s cute that you think the only difference between schools is how much money they spend on sports.
