USC and UCLA to Big Ten

It suggests that the Big and the Sec are each waiting (big for ND first) for the other to break the GOR.
It is hard to believe that FSU, Clemson and Miami were stupid enough to agree to a GOR that runs for another 14 years. I completely understand why we agreed since we have a history of having the worst AD's in NCAA history.

I expect one or more will either challenge the GOR or negotiate a buyout this year. I wonder how ESPN factors in since they are paying the bill.

No I’m talking about multiple star players transferring to big name schools for better NIL deals in all sports. Recruits selecting their schools based on high dollar NIL deals from big time schools. The pool of people willing to pay lkneu for athletes is much larger at the schools with huge followings. To say this helps “the little guys” is asinine.
What I meant by little guy was the 3 Star recruits.

How many votes are required to dissolve the GOR agreement? I could see a majority (FSU, Miami, GT, Clemson, UNC. NCSU, Va, VPI and ND) wanting to dissolve the GOR if they have pre-arranged landing spots.

Congratulations on such a fine example of the arrogance of Dodd fans. Georgia Tech was on the map well before Dodd; but according to Dodd fans GT didn't even exist under Heisman and Alexander. Dodd was handed a team that won the SEC the two previous years and went to the Orange Bowl for crying out loud. GT won 2 National Championships, the Rose Bowl, and the Orange Bowl before Dodd showed up; but apparently those count for nothing.
Good grief. You really have a problem brother.

The GOR protects everybody until it protects no one. I know everyone is waiting for the next shoe to drop, but for the moment it is still the P5 and not the P2.

Interesting, how many games would we have had against Bama, Auburn, LSU, Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia. How have we done against even South Carolina? I don't think we could schedule enough games against Vandy, UK, and Miss St. to reach 7-8 wins. Dodd knew what was coming after the mid 60s, and so did Bryant after he saw Sam Cunningham play at USC. What he didn't see and couldn't have, is the espn effect, and changes in the student body at Tech of the last few decades. You are right though about not being Vandy, but we also would have never seen the '90 MNC, TIAR, or Orange Bowls, much less have the highest award a coach can have, named after the guy some want to vilify.

We were doing just fine against the SEC before we left, our problems started after we quit. It is doubtful we would have become Vandy if we had stayed., even with leaving we haven't become Vandy. It is very likely that ESPN would be pumping our program if we were still in the SEC. I agree with you in that no one could see where college football was headed 20-40 years later; but they should have been able to see that going Independent was a dumb idea, that is why there aren't many examples teams jumping out of a conference and going independent and why conferences originated in the first place.

Tech is already a feeder school for Bama and a great place for other schools to send their four star recruits that didn't pan out.
Everybody's a feeder school for Bama, including Ohio State and UGA.

That wasn't the start of our problems. We went to the Orange Bowl Dodd's last year and it took Spurrier to beat us. Obviously, you didn't look at pics of our rosters when we were winning in the sec, huh? Hint: What did Dodd and Bryant see coming?

There is so much you don’t know about Tech football in the 60s. I will be happy to discuss it with you sometime

I think I know where you are going; but I wasn't going to bite on the race issue with regards to Dodd. If you are implying that is why he left the SEC then that is your take, not mine.

ESPN has pumped Mississippi State just fine, I think they pushed them to #1 in the Nation in 2014 for a spell. And I haven't seen much negative ESPN reporting on Vandy or Kentucky either.

Also remember that Dodd's last year was our 3rd year as an Independent, the upperclassmen were recruited to play in the SEC. The following year the team went 4-6. Dodd saw what was coming, even he couldn't recruit once outside the conference.

God. Just come out and say it. It’d be more respectful if you just manned up and admit you think integration was bad for Tech football.

Quit being a pussy. Say it.

There's a reason UGAg didn't want us back in the SEC in the late 70's, despite Auburn, Tennessee, and Alabama being for it.

The state of Virginia demanded VT be in the ACC during expansion or Virginia is would do all it could to veto all teams considered. The hillbillies of this state have done all they can to strengthen UGAg and kill GT since the 1960's

Who is being a pussy? Wasn't plain as day when I said Bryant knew what was coming when he saw Sam Cunningham? I've said before here and elsewhere that Thank God for the CRA, but it brought superior athletes and inferior students to CFB. Dodd, Bryant, and every coach knew what was coming, and it did. Is that plain spoken enough for you? Now, do you want to show how small and ignorant you are by raising the race card here? Do you actually think Dodd didn't know what this would mean to Tech until considerable time took place for academic shortfalls to be corrected? I hope for yourself you believe he did.

Wut?

We had a black QB lead us to a national title. What the öööö are you talking about?

Looks like Dodd was wrong, yet again.

I sense at least an implication that Dodd was racist and didn't want to have or play against black players. I guess you guys have forgotten that in 1956 Tech was scheduled to play Pitt in the Sugar Bowl, and then governor Marvin Griffin said they could not. Dodd stood his ground, and the game was played, and the black Pitt athlete played.

Dodd was a master college football coach, demanding honesty and integrity and inclusivity. Unfortunately, his legacy WAS stained by his withdrawal from the SEC. BUT, that withdrawal had absolutely nothing to do with race.

Dodd would reject a B1G offer after hearing from UG AD that we’d definitely get an SEC offer, which ends up never coming

Y’all need to pump the brakes on the Dodd bashing. People are posting outrageous öööö straight out of left field. Ridiculous

No one cares about UNC outside of the ACC. So all they’re left with is their location (mediocre) and fanbase (mediocre). Whereas we have our location (elite) and fanbase (mediocre). We win
Yeah, I'm not seeing this. I live in Southern California and I've been to (football) game watching parties for both Tech and UNC. UNC parties are at least ten times bigger. They have a huge fan base here.
