I had not seen it before either. Somebody posted it on one of the Tech FB pages, so I figured it would fit in in this thread.Thank you for posting this photograph! I have never seen it before.
GO JACKETS!
Is it just me, or does the guy to Coach Alex’s left look like a 70 year old Jimbo Fisher? Here's another ancient photo that someone posted in FB --- Coach Alexander sitting in the North stands in 1944, his last year as head coach.
Alabama doesn't have any problem recruiting and they've never changed or modernized their uni's. Penn State and others much the same. It is their brand, I'm not sure an argument can be made that blue turf, weekly uniform changes and other gimmicks help you out recruit others. It certainly can't cover up one coaching staff over another. The 2021 version of those Unis would be dreadful, if we wore those we'd have to have a robust network of Bagmen to convince any Recruit to visit GT, much less send in a signed LOI.
Sorry Pal, but in 2021, Teens don't want to wear those Unis.
Did you boycott GT FB when we won the MNC in 1990 wearing the Blue Jerseys frequently?
Notice how almost every HS Recruit that visits, and then takes the Promo Photos in Full Uni, they always seem to choose a version of Blue, or White with Blue Numbers & Trim, very few Recruits take those Promo Photos in the Unis you suggest.
A Marketing Person would tell you to "learn to read the room" and give the Customer what he wants (players that are difference makers is what we need to Win, that's our Target Market).

Coach Ray Graves, I believe, is the man standing on the far left. I'm not sure who the other two coaches are standing next to Coach Dodd. Mr. Graves was Tech's Defensive Coordinator from 1951-1959. In fact, he is credited with creating the "Monster Defense" while at Tech. The "Monster Defense" was a more modern alignment consisting of the Free Safety and Strong Safety playing in the backfield. As a result, the Jackets had some great defenses during this time. I wish we had Coach Graves coaching our defense today!I recognize Dodd, second from right, but who are the others?
Assistant Coach Ray Ellis may be between Coach Ray Graves and Coach Bobby Dodd.I recognize Dodd, second from right, but who are the others?
Thats the 6-3 win on Bunky Henry's 2 FG'sI have been a GTYJ fan since 1958 when my uncle took me to my first GT game at Grant Field. I became a fan then and have been faithful to them since that first time of watching them. Here are some photo's of Coach Dodd's last team in 1966, when UT played GT on National TV.
Love the packed stadium. And the vast majority there were Tech fans. That sadly doesn't happen anymore.I have been a GTYJ fan since 1958 when my uncle took me to my first GT game at Grant Field. The upper west had not yet been built, but the south horseshoe was still there and always packed, as was the old north stands. I sorta doubt that capacity was up to 60K, but it wasn't far off.Had capacity been increased to 60K by then? I was 10 years old and my father took me to a couple of games that year, but he not this one.
Coach Bobby Dodd's last team in 1966. The team finished with a 9-1 regular season record and went to the 1967 Orange Bowl where they were defeated by the Florida Gators by the score of 27-12.
Unlike Saban, Dodd’s former assistants always beat him. Graves at Florida and Broyles at Arkansas.
