We got out-coached today

That 43 points given up was basically over 3 quarters because the offense managed to dominate the first quarter.

What a joke.

Tech didn’t stop Duke from scoring until almost half way through the 4th quarter. Say that over and over and over again. Who cares what the offense is doing at that point? Almost 200 yards given up in a single quarter of football!? To Duke!?!?

Being Roof’s white knight makes you sound retarded.

The offense had 5 yards in the 3rd quarter. Say that over and over and over again. The offense had 2 first downs in the entire second half. Say that over and over and over again. 3 for 14 passing for the entire game. Say that over and over and over again.

The offense can’t get another shot when they don’t have the ball, you ööööing imbecile.

Excuse away the ending of the first half. O is clicking. We score with 2:00 left. Defense does what again?

Hi, I am the special teams white knight. I would like ElCid and aeromech to cool off.

Holy crap.

The O this, The D that, The S/T the other.

One guy is responsible - CPJ. Not Roof. They all have some blame to share, but only one guy is here in his 10th year who is totally in charge. One guy.

Firing another DC will not accomplish squat.

And we, as fans, share for not supporting the program with enough $. Got to change.

Anyone here been given more than 10 years on a job, with increases, to obtain these kind of results?

Any ideas on who we can hire to replace CPJ, Mr. Stansbury?

If they gave out trophies for the 1st quarter we would be winners; but the a-holes made the game 4 quarters long. As you inadvertently point out Duke dominated for 3 quarters. A few adjustments on the Duke defense and our offense was done for the day.

Hey Einstein, the offense got the ball 5 times in the second half. After every Duke possession, they get a shot, that's the way the game works. 5 possessions, 2 first downs, 1 pass completion.

Yet our offense scored more often per possession today than any of the offenses in the games you just listed.... Until the game was completely out of reach, at least

Guess you should petition the NCAA to award victory based on PPP.

So, according to you, we must set the level of standard for the O to score every time they touch the ball. Otherwise, they’re causing the issues on D. You must see how unrealistically idiotic that is.

By the way, what’s your standard for the D?

We probably would have had to put numbers up there in the zip code of the UNC ‘12 performance on O today with the D performance we threw out there. That’s horrifically embarrassing.

No, I don’t have time to worry about inconsequential things like that, or even the ugag game.

What is vital to the future of GT football right now, is to find a meaningless opponent for a 12th game (one that will insure we lose money we don’t have) and hopefully getting into a bowl game, preferably on the South Pole. A game where we can sell at least 42 tickets and will guarantee at least a loss of $750,000 for the GTAA. That is what is important, because CPJ can get a bonus for going to a bowl game.

Thanks for directing questions directly to me as your AD, and as I am sure you know, we could Never do better than CPJ. Same situation as when we obviously could Never hire anyone better than CCG to be our coach.

The defense blew chunks today; but I'm not the one white knighting an offense that had more 3 and outs than it had first downs in the second half. My standard for the O is that 3 and out is the exception and not the rule. My standard is that the O score 24 points or more for the game while the D holds the opponent to 24 points or less. My standard for O includes drives more then 3 minutes long and not giving the ball back in excellent field position for the other team.

The O scored 20 and gave up 3 for a total of 17. Not a good look for a program thats signature squad is the offense.

If you normalize our points by number of possessions (20 / 9 = 2.22), we scored more against Duke than anyone they've played except Miami (31 / 12 = 2.58).

That's even counting the desperation drives late in the game which really shouldn't count.

We did the second best offensively out of 11 teams Duke has faced, and the offense did bad. OK.....

It doesn't work well to evaluate offense by point total, because it's highly dependent on how many times the defense gives the offense the ball. You end up evaluating your offense largely on your defense's performance. The better way to evaluate offense is by scoring efficiency. Same with evaluating defense.

If you normalize the pts we scored after halftime (0), we did the worst of any team that Puke has faced.

I could never imagine being this cynical. I don't know about GT losing $750k, but the bowl practices matter a lot. The trip, swag bag, and all that actually do matter to the players as well.

While we are talking about Tech's third quarter against Duke, here is Miami's third quarter: Punt, Punt, Interception, Punt. Cutliffe must have given an even better speech to his defense in that halftime.

Or maybe not. Duke's offense in the third quarter: Punt, Punt, Downs, Punt. Against us, it was TD, FG, TD.

The offense is far from perfect. TQ's throwing seems like the worst of any GT quarterback under CPJ, including Tevin. So many play-action passes which could be huge plays (like they were against VT) miss the mark completely, not giving Jeune a chance even in Man coverage.

But sheesh, at least for this game, the defense played far, far worst than the offense. This was the most Duke has scored all year against an FBS school, despite getting less possessions. Even Army held them to 16. You can blame CPJ because he is ultimately responsible, but don't say the offense is even 10% as culpable as the defense.

My problem is that we seem so disorganized every week. Almost as if we are playing a pick up game in the school yard. None of our option plays seem like reads anymore. We run a shit ton of QB keepers. JJ Green seemed to be a better RB at UGAg than he is now. Duke won every statistic for the game. There is no bright spot.
AB's ran the ball a grand total of 6 times, again. Every game, several times a game, they frustratingly hold their arms up after a play knowing the pitch was there. Everyone sees it. Our QB is timid to pitch. His reads are awful. He is an AB. Searcy touched the ball once yesterday. Lynch twice. Lynch had 400+ yards rushing last season and 500 yards receiving. This season he has 200 yards rushing and 40 yards receiving. We are broken and have a hard headed coach who will not make a change because, dammit, he decided that TaQuan was the best QB on the team and he is gonna prove it if we have to have nothing but 3 and outs all game long next Saturday.
