We got out-coached today

Georgia Tech 3/6 = 50% scoring efficiency through 3rd quarter

Miami 3/9 = 33% scoring efficiency through 3rd quarter
VIrginia 3/12 = 25% scoring efficiency through 3rd quarter
Florida State 2/7 = 29% scoring efficiency through 3rd quarter
Shall I go on?
Duke, 100%

Duke’s offense essentially executed our ideal game plan in the second half. They methodically moved the ball, chewing clock and scoring points in the process. It felt like an eternity between our own offensive possessions and I’m sure the players (and judging by some of the play calling, the coach) felt it too. It ended up putting the pressure on our offense, which, after a couple three and outs, multiplied exponentially. There’s blame to go around everywhere. I’m not at all diminishing that or making excuses. I just that I feel like we all just lived the nightmare that, in successful games/years, we’ve inflicted on our opponents.

Eat shit and howl at the moon, you moron.

Why does it matter what the offense did or didn't do? CPJ is responsible for the entire team.
I'm with you on this. I'm just complaining about people saying both the offense and defense are to blame. The defense is solely to blame, and CPJ is to blame for the defense.

Through the third quarter we'd scored on 50% of our possessions. That's really good for any offense. After the 3rd quarter, we were basically down 3 scores and in desperation mode, passing almost every down, trying to catch up.

We were more efficient on offense through the 3rd quarter than any of the last 6 teams Duke lost to!

We did literally better on offense than any team Duke has played until the game was out of reach, yet our offense is to blame! Unbelievable

Through the 2nd qtr, we'd done well on O.

6 plays, 5 yards, 0 pts, 0 first downs in the 3rd qtr.
0 pts the entire 2nd half. That is SHITTY offense.

Stop glossing over this.

We needed the O to help the shitty D today. It didn't.

This was a total team effort.

I can’t understand how a zero in the second half on offense can be excused. And, CPJ saying that we were down seventeen when we got the ball back, overlooking two three and outs in the third, does indicate his tendency to affix blame on the defense as if he is responsible only for the offense. As head coach, he is equally responsible for offense, defense and special teams. Coordinating the offense and calling the plays is his choice; every aspect of the team is his responsibility.

CPJ's offense scored ZERO pts the entire 2nd half.

ZERO.

Through the 2nd qtr, we'd done well on O.

6 plays, 5 yards, 0 pts, 0 first downs in the 3rd qtr.
0 pts the entire 2nd half. That is ööööTY offense.

Stop glossing over this.

Yep. 1st half posts in game thread were predicting a shootout. Duke obliged. Our offense sucked.

Our D stayed on the field too long and our O got cold, like a starting pitcher after his team's long half inning at bat :ughpink:

The only way you blame the offense is if you're a FoT

Success in the college game continues to get more dependent on offensive success. Look at Oklahoma State game today vs. KSU. OSU was ded, yet almost pulled it out because they can almost score at will.

If you don't have a team that can win 42-38 more than 14-10 you aren't going to be in the top 20 very often.

Clemson 35 - Alabama 31. Guess both teams' defenses suck.

You're cherrypicking. "We did good on offense except those two drives where we didn't." Duh. When the 4th quarter started and the game was completely out of reach, we were at 50% scoring efficiency, literally better than any team Duke has played all year. I mean Jesus, not only was the offense not bad, it was actually exceptionally good.

Tevin was a great passer compared to Taquon. I believe today dropped him below 40 percent comp %
Which I think breaks into the "luck" column for completions.

Sadly, CPJ cannot trust Lucas Johnson to run a series.

GT 0% efficiency in the second half. The offense sucked. Why are you having such a hard time admitting this? Yes, the defense sucked too. But the offense was terrible in the second half.

Offense sucked against Clemson. Offense sucked against Miami. The offense sucks sometimes dude. It’s okay to admit it.

Yet our offense scored more often per possession today than any of the offenses in the games you just listed.... Until the game was completely out of reach, at least
