Were any of you complainers even around for the B*** L**** years?

This year was one of the worst coaching jobs I have seen in my 40 plus years as a GT fan, and the worst since 1994. Exception: It's hard for the average fan to see, but the defense made great strides. Hiring Groh was PJ's best coaching move of 2010.

Really, 2002 was better with 51-7? 2006 wasn't very pretty either, considering how stocked we were and how awful UGA was. Not scoring a touchdown against Wake is not exactly the high point of my career as being a Tech fan. 2001, Joe Burns....yeah, let's not go there.

Everybody is acting like they were born yesterday and have never seen anything bad happen as a Tech fan. We didn't have all that much talent this year and we weren't really ready to play this year either. Seasons like this happen. Deal with it. Get back to me next year if we keep having seasons like this, otherwise STFU.

A little more perspective, from 119 years of history.

Some interesting perspective, but look at our schedule now. Cripes we are in the ACC, with teams like Kansas and SCSU on the schedule. Carson and curry were playing tougher SEC schedules than any of the SEC teams were playing at the time.

At least CPH has us in every game vs ugag. But if we try to build a program with the pinnacle being to win the ACC, we will never get to where we should or could be.

Curry got beat by Furman. Then tied by Furman. They were Div 1AA. There would be a lynch mob forming if we got knocked off by a FCS team.

Remember the 3yds & a cloud of dust offense? The draw plays on 3rd & long? Maybe you're all too young, but watching Curry's teams was PAINFUL.

Lack of discipline. Dewberry ring a bell anyone? We finally get to a bowl game and lose our starting QB. I still remember his "memorial" on the green wall- "hope she was worth it".

In 1994, BDS was a ghost town. We were really in the gutter. I was there. It was really bad.
Yes, I agree it was really bad. I am not sure that it was any worse than the first year that Bill Curry had. I think we won 1 game. There was absolutely no talent on that team.

Impressive. Although, you have to scale that up to the number of games played in a season. After doing this:

Heisman: 31
Alexander: 34
Dodd: 29

Still impressive after scaling it up to the number of games we play now.

We have some seriously fickle fans.

We really do. It bothers me more than having a losing season to be honest with you. Anyone that knows me well knows how competitive I am. Play me in golf, chess, video games, or whatever. I hate to lose. Hate for GT to lose. Drives me nuts, but our fickle fans drive me even more crazy.

Those '84 and '85 ugag games were anything but painful.
Curry's teams were so painful that Alafriggingbama hired him away where he was named SEC COTY. Sure they couldn't overcome their inbrededness, but.....

Do you get a really good workout with those sports? I hate to see ya pull a muscle playing chess!

This is crazy. Until we reach a point where we're winning the ACC regularly nothing else will matter. Plus our schedules are not different from what they've always been. We've always had patsies on our schedules and Curry wasn't playing an SEC schedule. Sure we'd play an Alabama or TN every year, but don't make it sound like we were playing some murderers row. You don't remember the sprinkling of Tulanes and Western Carolinas?

CPH is 4-7 against that powerful juggernaut called UGAG

Unfortunately I was around. I remember being at the Peach Bowl (ECU/NC State) wearing my GT sweatshirt thinking that Lewis would be our next coach (was right on that part) and that he was really going to do some great things with our football program (totally wrong there).

I'm still amazed to this day on how quickly he took our program down. I hope I never see something like this happen at Tech again.
Hell, i think everyone thought it was a great hire, IIRC he was national coach of the year.

Why did B*** L**** do so badly? Consensus seems to be that he was incompetent as a head coach, but why? I wasn't following Tech at the time.

You're right- 1984 was the start of the upswing. Went to the Cesspool and took home a piece of the hedge. 1985 we beat the idiots again & saw my first bowl game when unexpectedly without JD we beat MSU & Lorenzo White in Bham. I still never liked Curry.

1980-1983 we regularly got our butts beat. We did have some good road trips because opposing fans could count on us to roll over & play dead and treated very nicely in return (maybe not UA or ND).

Curry's offensive playcalling was tough to stomach. Recruiting was suspect. My future bride had a player in one of her HS classes & the guy couldn't handle arithmatic. I mean he wouldn't even be able to pass the Ugay single-digit addition/ subtraction MBA-course standards. Curry got him in. He drew a buckshot his 1st quarter and he found himself out.

Curry got out of Tech while the "getting was good" & I for one was glad to see him go. I drank many beers for many good fellows the day of the announcement. Bear Bryant rolled over in his grave.

That is awesome. I will be reusing that metaphor.
Be careful somebody will have something to say about my killing of the english language. Its just a country piece of slang we use regularly in middle georgie.More to follow.

Quick story we had a guy named Bobby Lamb from our area and we wanted tech to look at him.Of course they told our Sheriff he was not up to tech standards and he went to Furman and passed the ball all over Grant Field and we got our asses beat.I am still upset everytime I think of this.Bobby ended up at Furman as HC until he quit this year.We were bad during the Curry years .
