What are the REAL reasons our football program can't compete?

Eh, Stingtalk is just the greater internet ööööwad theory turned up to potato.

I'm talking more about actions driven by emotion. Take COFH. Everyone knew what was going to happen. What we didn't realize was that 35K Tech fans would decided to go all Rainman together sell to the highest bidder, which happened to be dwags, and everyond rationalized it because they successfully managed to pay for 33% of their season ticket package on one game. lOoK HoW SmArT I Am???? You've met these guys, right?

Anybody who thought this would be the case after 10 years of the triple option and mostly poor defenses is an idiot.
Coupled with anyone who is told we need to be a DEVELOPMENT program to pull out of it and expecting it to somehow happen overnight is an idiot.

I would love to attend a COFH game where I thought we had a chance to be competitive. Last year was the first time I've ever sold my tickets and I hope it's the last. After trekking to South Bend I had seen enough.

I wonder if Russell Athletic did some voodoo stuff to mess with us after we ditched them for adidas.

Tech's fanbase is 90% made up of practical engineers who pride themselves in nearly every facet of their life as being able to analyze inputs and outputs and rationalize their actions based off what they observe. Support in terms of butts in the seats and forking over money is based off those inputs and outputs. Emotion has little to do it.

TL;DR - Tech fans are on the spectrum.
This is exactly the reason uga is so successful. Their fans don’t base their financial support of the program on whether or not they think a game is winnable. They pay their money, go to the games, and root for the team no matter what - purely emotionally driven.

Emotion is a human thing. Dwag ain't got no humanity. They're the foot soldiers of a truck-hawking, cousin-ööööing maniac and they need to be de-stroyed.

Dunno if it's been mentioned, but stadium debt is a big albatross right now.
What's the dollar figure on that annually? I've heard it's oppressive - just never have seen it in terms of $$$.

I wonder sometimes how different the program would be if the 2002-03 renovation had never gone ahead.

Just imagine the blank canvas you'd have on your hands in today's world where a student athlete/football center support building is the must have new toy in its place.

13.5 million, I think.

Because Bobby Dodd took us out of the SEC and caused disinterest in the local Atlanta fan base. /thread

We would still be playing in a packed stadium with plenty of cash flow from merchandising had we stayed in the SEC.
Well I guess that's settled then.

Yep. We haven't won a damn thing since that Bobby Dodd.
If someone told me right now that Tech could have the same level of success over the next decade that we had in the 50's, national title included, and the trade-off was that in 70 years or so, the program would have to be absolute garbage for a period, I would take it in a heartbeat.

I'm thinking one of you older ööööers sold the rest of us out.
