If Chadwell is such a good candidate, why is he not getting mentioned for the other P5 jobs?

Maybe others have read more articles and I am missing something. It just does not seem anyone else is as excited about Chadwell as the GT fan base. Why is that?
TBH, this is my concern, too. There are a number of higher-profile programs with openings, and you just do not hear Chadwell's name tossed out among them much. If he is being discussed, why would he come to Tech rather than one of the others? If they think he's the best available, then I'm fine with it.

ETA: Just saw Cyp's post... maybe he is.

I think key on the cheap and spending the money on coordinators may be our best bet. Key seems to run a tight ship and gets the most out of most players. (Hopefully we can weed out the ones that he doesn't).

I don't know much about Chadwell but have read his defense sucks but he is in tight with the defensive coordinator. If that is accurate, I am worried he would bring him along and be to loyal to him.
At this point, we don't know if Key will be similar on the last point. I know there were a lot of rumors that Key was the one who convinced Long to come here and there has certainly been a lot of close connections among the staff so far so it wouldn't be impossible that he'd try to keep everyone.

I'm not seeing where any other P5 team considers Chadwell a Top 3 candidate. We do not appear to have any competition for Chadwell. Maybe if the West Virginia job opens up?

Chadwell's resume looks great at his previous 2 stops where he has turned programs around. I am just wondering why he is not being taken more seriously as a coaching candidate outside of GT. Are people concerned that his style of play will not translate to P5 or be problematic for recruiting?

I get what you are saying.... if Chadwell was that good, other teams would be interested and there is no way he would come to Tech if that was the case.

Hard pass, let's settle on Key. I haven't heard his name come up for any other coaching searches.

Bc the other P5 jobs are big enough to try and stab other P5 HCs…

I’m beginning to see a lot of distain posted about Key. I’m afraid if he’s selected there’ll be a group of haters that’ll work to undermine his tenure like there was for Gailey.

We need to support whoever is chosen until they prove themselves unfit. I think the fans gave Collins a fair shot and the administration gave him much more than fair. This time around, hopefully the new HC will prove to be a wise choice.

Agree, but that's not the way we do things. Whenever whomever is hired as head coach loses a game some will complain that the loss is because we didn't hire the other guy. The Juice Crew thinks Collins upped recruiting and the roster is stacked right now; so next year is going to be fun.

Flipped my vote to Key, 60 percent confidence. Seems that is where the momentum is.

öööö Key and BoB. They should not be considered because this ship is sinking and that’s more water on the boat.
What is wrong with fading into obscurity? At least we will have a true Tech man at the helm. We can at least feel good about that. One last hurrah! We can have a message board and talk about how awesome Tech used to be in the good ole days. Nevermind, we already have that.

HaHa, new report from "Sources" says Deion to USF.

If true (and I have my doubts), maybe he's afraid of taking on a high profile gig right now.

Tech doesn’t want him. He wasn’t considered.

Not thinking a candidate is the best or has lacking data is not disdain. I don’t see a lot of hate Key. I do see a lot of people who would rather have someone else than Key.

If Key gets the job, you will have some people say, “let’s see how he does” without any excitement.

The announcers on the Tulane/Cincy game just stated that Fritz having to adjust to recruit @ Tulane by learning to sell New Orleans and overcoming enormous academic requirements to get players into Tulane makes him a good fit for GT for the same reasons.

Fair enough, I’ve seen many posts TTEO “let’s see how he does” but too many posts are now like “if it’s Key I’m burning all my GT stuff”, since rumors have been coming out that he’s a serious candidate.

Makes more sense than Colorado. I don't think he is afraid of a high profile gig, I just don't think he has been offered a high profile gig.

To be honest I would mind having the Cincy head coach.
